Opinions on CompactFlash cards?

I have finally gone and bought myself a Canon G3, and updated my avatar to celebrate. (If Syneryder can do an artsy self-portrait, then so can I.)

Now I'm looking for a good choice in CompactFlash cards, since the 32 MB that came with the camera won't go very far once I get serious with it.

From what I've read, certain cards may work better in some cameras than others. I know there are a bunch of Canon owners here, so if anyone has developed a preference I'd love to hear about it. I don't see anything at Canon's web site to recommend particular brands.

What are people's thoughts on lots of small cards versus a few big ones? I see 256 MB cards in the $50-70 range (or even less with rebates), not quite double the price of 128 MB cards. I haven't seen anything to suggest that big cards are any faster or slower than smaller ones.

And since everyone's just dying to see my artistry at work, here are a couple of samples:

When I was picking out a camera, I wasn't too concerned about macro ability -- other cameras are better at it than the G3. So what do I find myself doing with my new camera? Macro shots. I never had the patience to try this with my old SLR, so now I'm like a little kid with a ($520) new toy.
