Stats/logs questions

I'd like to filter out requests from
my IPs (work and home.)
Is this possible? I suppose I could
filter them out from the accesses log,
then sneak it back in. Oops, only
have read.

Also, will the log be kept forever, or
only until a certain size? I have vague
ideas about processing it or saving it
somewhere offline for my own use, and
I really don't want to lose what is already
there.

As far as 'filtering out' the logs that pertain to you... no, you can't do that.

As for how long the logs are kept... we'll keep the access logs on the server for the previous month... any older then that will be deleted.

e.g. Current Month and Previous Month are there... the previous month logs (if you are wanting to keep them) would need to be downloaded and saved before the current month takes there place.

During the upgrade of TAZ to the new NOC, I replaced the logging drive with a larger capacity 6 gig drive...

It was started with fresh logs for the month of May, and all prior were not copied over in the interest of time available to complete the upgrades...

If you really must have them, I can dig through my archives and see if I have them intact...  This will take me a few hours and filtering through several gigs of logfiles...

The logfile rotations were needed badly, and I took the opportunity of TAZ being down to complete this phase as rotating the 'Stage1' access logfiles are very difficult to do when the server is in production...

Nah, no problem for 2 days. As long as there
is usually an overlap of a month, and the old log
is available in one of those dirs I can access,
I should be able avoid any real loss in the future.

Thanks,

The last copy I managed to grab was on April 28,
containing everything from inception (Jan). But
I've checked the last couple days and it looks
like log rotation finally started; i.e., only
May in access.

This looks OK, except I can't seem to locate
the copy of the April stats. It's only two days,
but I'd like to track it down and save it.
The last_month dir only has error.gz in it.

Thanks for any help,
