Alternate port for SFTP?

My ISP has throttled outbound port 22, probably thinking it was p2p traffic. Is there an alternate port I can use at FQ? Otherwise, it's back to FTP.

Re: Alternate port for SFTP?

Hi,

I don't know that this isn't something we'll consider doing in the future, but there isn't currently an alternative SFTP port.

Re: Alternate port for SFTP?

What your ISP has done is ludicrous and IMHO, no ISP should be blocking "secure" protocols!

We have no plans of offering an alternative SSH/SFTP port, and any ISP that blocks it should be reprimanded by its subscribers...

Re: Alternate port for SFTP?

Tech support at the ISP, CenturyLink, is closed. Will update if I get anywhere with them!

Re: Alternate port for SFTP?

I work at CenturyLink. According to my sources, no ports on your account should be throttled.

There have been some equipment problems lately that might have something to do with it (according to my sources), but you can chat with them or call them to help figure out the problem.

Re: Alternate port for SFTP?

Whatever it was, it works now. The setup there has always been quirky, maybe it's at the end of the line.

Re: Alternate port for SFTP?

I have the same problems with sftp transfers, I don't know what it is, it goes from something like 700 bps/sec to 14,000 bps/sec, then back down. This is just with a 10 meg file.

Everytime I call, they say it's due to hardware issues, and they supposedly do something, and 4 hours later my phone line goes dead for about 10 minutes (I'm on DSL), and then transfer rates are more consistent for maybe a week or so.
