I was in SoftPro today, a real bookstore that also has a web site, and was reading a really good book called The Domain Handbook.

At first I thought who needs a big book about domains, you just go and register it right?! However there was a lot of history of domains and cases and case law regarding trademarks and other things with regards to domains. For example the case of Adam Curry registering mtv.com and how eventually the big corporation wrested it away from him. It was a precedent setting case. Then the story about how a Wired journalist registered McDonalds.com and told mcdonalds he was doing it and no one there cared or even called him back! Eventually they wised up and he transfered it to them provided they donate money to a school to have internet installed.
It also talks about how domains are managed via servers etc etc.
