Hi Benj,

Doing a search of the Forums I turned this up, posted by TeRRa in May.

You can quickly determine the version using the 'status' command once logged into the server. This displays the MySQL version, your connection ID, and other useful information.

It seems I can't telnet to mysql02.FutureQuest.net....
Am I supposed to login here ?

When I login dexter, and when I type status, it says command not found.
Where exactly should I use this command ?

Thanks,
Benj

Telnet into your account, and then do the following:

#mysqladmin -uMySQL User Name -p -hMySQL Server Name status

Though for what you're looking for, I think you'd be better off running:

#mysqladmin -uMySQL User Name -p -hMySQL Server Name version

Hope this helps

Don't forget that the "#" signifies the shell prompt.
