I want to hear from others on this, if you please.
Is it really worth of paying $200.00 to have your site submitted to 1000+ search engines?

I mean, Are there 1000+ search engines out there?
I cannot name ten search engines from top of my head.

Another thing...
They claim that they will push my site on top of the search results... They also claim that they have hundred thousands of satisfied customers. Do you see the irony there? How do they work?

My site is abandoned for last two years and I have NEVER resigstered my web site to google, but I get the top billings by using many different keywords from them. And I still get 1500 to 2000 page views every month. I've been playing around with the page titles and documents to figure out how google finds me. And I don't think paying some submission services will change the behaviors of google... or can they?

Why is that "submission service" sounds so fishy to me?
I plan to re-start my web site, and this time it will be for money.
So, I want to get educated. Thank you.

I would guess at least 990 of those are FFA (free for all) link pages. Not only are they completely worthless (no one visits them to see your link and you're pushed to the bottom of the list as soon as another is added), but if your email address is used for submitting to them, you'll be flooded with spam for the forseeable future. :(

As far as promised "top placement" results, ask yourself how everyone can be guaranteed top placement and I think you'll quickly see which submission services are worth avoiding...

The big directories to get into, really, are Dmoz.org, Google.com and Yahoo.com. Getting into Dmoz alone automatically guarantees you placement in several other directories (including Google and Yahoo). Since all Dmoz submissions are handled by human volunteers, those "search engine submission services" rarely do any good at that directory, and often do harm. (They may submit you to the wrong category, to multiple categories or resubmit your listing several times...all of which are frowned upon.)

You would be better off to construct a list of search engines of your own, and go to their submission pages yourself and enter the information manually in their submissions forms.

IMHO.

(Also, the best thing for good placement is well constructed web pages with content.)
