I know that IRC servers are not allowed on my account. I wanted to know if a Java applet such as JIRC is allowed?

Thanks

I prefer Whiplash (a CGI/IRC gateway) to jIRC/JPilot, but it's probably worse on the server being server-side rather than client-side.

I know that IRC servers are not allowed on my account. Correct. IRC servers are a big no no and against the terms of service. I wanted to know if a Java applet such as JIRC is allowed? This is not a problem. I prefer Whiplash (a CGI/IRC gateway) to jIRC/JPilot, but it's probably worse on the server being server-side rather than client-side. CGI is worse and could cause a problem... which does make JPilot the better choice ;)

still, whiplash is technically very interesting, and actually works better than java (includes features like DCC and is more customizable), plus allows chatting through proxies that block ports other than 80.

Should also mention that I've never been fond of java applets:P
