at least back to the "old days" of 1996.

"The Internet Archive Wayback Machine puts the history of the World Wide Web at your fingertips. The Archive contains over 100 terabytes and 10 billion web pages archived from 1996 to the present. "

Yuk! I designed THAT?!?! :P

Of course, then I looked up the old designs for the radio network I work with... It wasn't much better. :)

LOL - The ISP industry's standard definition of 'Unlimited':

merchant: Lemonade! All you can drink for only 5 cents!

patron: [gulp], [gulp]...MORE!

merchant: I'm sorry, but that's all you can drink for 5 cents.

Sadly, they don't seem to have my old "Berwyn Illinois Home Page" which was hosted on mcs.net and helped to get me, ultimately, the job I have now. But they do have my completely inane home page from that time, http://web.archive.org/web/19970606101537ws_11/www.mcs.com/~pkroll/home.html

The color scheme, such as it is, tells you I was still lamenting my long lost Atari 800. Whatever happened to Synapse software? (Heck, whatever happened to Big K?!)

- I could use a game of Star Raiders, right after some TRS-80 model I Space Warp!

Looking over my old designs all I can say is: "Somethings are best left in the past and forgotten." LOL. Eeek :GULP:

And doesn't this site like violate numerous copyright laws?

Hey Paul... I went to high school in Berwyn :o

Ah, the Atari 800. I have an 800xl here that I bought on Ebay. Haven't really done anything with it though. Even though the graphics on the old machines were pretty bad by todays standards they seemed more fun.

I poked about a bit on this yesterday but didn't find any of my old work. Then I said "hey, wait -- maybe the first professional site I did was there!" ... sure enough, there it is! Wow!

I'm not sure of the legal aspects of something like this, but like the Google cache, I don't personally think there's anything wrong with it, as long as the cache/archive doesn't attempt to claim any works as its own, which it does not.

Remember, this is the internet. By nature of the technology, your site is cached all over the place; proxies, browsers, search engines and archives, they all cache copies of your site for various reasons. Provided credit is given to the author, I don't think there are any legal issues with this.

I don't know about the archive site, but I know Google will exclude your site from their cache upon request (or with a simple meta tag or robots.txt file). Personally, my feeling is that if you don't want people to see something, don't put it on the web ;)
