Here's an intriguing navigation system at the Smithsonian's "History Wired" site! Takes a bit for all the java to load...

Left- and right-click for sub-menus.

I really like it! What really impressed me was the amount of information they have cramped in there. The navigation, although interesting, was a little confusing. Thanks for pointing this site out, very informative.

Tony.

Wow, you weren't kidding. I could have fixed lunch while waiting for that. My browser is still shaking from the experience after closing that window...

It seemed to load pretty fast for me. And WOW! what navigation! Well worth a visit - as long as you're not on a dial-up it seems.

http://historywired.si.edu/index.html is still working for me this morning.

It does take about 2-3 minutes+ for the java to finish loading - not sure if it's because I'm running over satellite and latency comes into play with a bunch of sub files or if it's due to pegging both processors 100% with SETI all the time (which usually doesn't have any affect, but might not be getting out of the way nicely for the java applet.) Doesn't seem to be bandwidth limiting the speed for me though as my connetion is only about 10% utilized during the load.
