Could be a "places to go, sites to see post," but it seems more applicable to Graphics...

While searching for a specific font, I ran across numerous "highly rated" font sites that opened more popup windows than an adult site... :( (Many of the font sites I have visited previously seem to have disappeared.) Finally, I ran across Font Island (http://www.fontisland.com/), which was a refreshsing change from the others. No popups, no redirects, relatively few ads, very well organized and easy to use, and blazingly fast! I didn't find the font I was looking for, but I found several other good ones. So, if anyone is looking to get a font fix... :)

Uh, nix on the "no pop-ups" comment. I just visited the site, and on closing my browser window, had a plethora of pop-ups, and clicked those closed and got a second and third generation of those nasty little buggers. I really gotta install that Mozilla 0.9.4 and get rid of the onload/onclose popups.

One of these days...when my "free" time comes...

That's odd. I just checked back and still don't get any popup windows on entrance, exit, or anything else.

Maybe those little buggers know you're going out of your way to kill them off, so they're out to get you? :P

Well, I just tried again, and this time I didn't get them.

Hmm. I wonder if I had more than one browser window open last time, and the popups came from a different window? I didn't think so, but ...???

I get a popup at Font Island once in a while, but not each time and not on each click of a link.

I got a whole bunch of pop-ups and some were difficult to close down! :(

Well, this now qualifies as one of the strangest things I've seen... What browsers are people using that are hit by the popups?

Well of course I'm using NS 6.1. What else? :P

Both times, too. With and without popups.

Explorer 5 for the Mac - and don't go saying "that explains that". :P

Ok, so no apparent pattern. :( Like I said, one of the strangest things I've seen... Intelligent popups, there's a scary thought. We're not alone...

Your second visit wthin x amount of hours wouldn't have grossed them anything anyways, so they didn't give you pop ups. ;)

Anyways, this font site is nice. Certainly one for the book marks. Like an extensive version of Fontalicious ( www.fontalicious.com ) without those comments.

That's a logical explanation, but it still doesn't explain why some people aren't getting popups ever from the site, unless its cookies are getting tripped up with someone else's.

I just upgraded to IE6 last night (after IE5 crashed and refused to start back up; it's been crashing more and more frequently of late, along with OE5) and checked back this morning to see if that affects the popups, and now it doesn't even take me to the font site... Same thing when I fire up NS though, so I'm pretty sure it isn't a case of the browser playing tricks on me. :)

I checked out the Fontalicious site, but as nice as it looks, it seems pretty much impossible to use. No categorization to the fonts, no order to them that I can tell, samples are much too small to get a feel for them without clicking on each one and paging back like a lab rat, and no indication of how many pages of fonts you have to go through to find out if it was a worthwhile waste of time... ;)

Yeah, he deserves an F for navigation. The site is a listing of fonts he himself has made, and there a a few I use or try out regularly (Jenkins). Definitely not quite as nice or comprehensive as Font Island.
