Hello,

I'm currently hosted by a dutch company. I would like to switch to FutureQuest. But I was wondering how the speed is with the 'basic package' around the world.

(Domain name removed) is my site. There's nothing there but a layout, but could you check the speed (US - Netherlands) and compare that to your own site. And could some ppl post there site hosted at Futurequest (image heavy prefferably) so I could check their speed.

Finally how do ppl with image heavy sites find the speed at Futurequest?

Best regards,

Anne

PS. excuse my poor english

Helllo Anne,

This page contains links to tracert pages around the world, using this you should be able to see differences in speed from differing points to various FutureQuest hosted sites:
http://www.tracert.com/cgi-bin/trace.pl

Additional ping and tracert resources may be found here:
http://www.aota.net/Server_Performance/pingtracert.php3

A list of FutureQuest hosted sites may be viewed here as well:

Thanks for considering FutureQuest

I am in the UK and use FQ for several sites. I reckon it would be almost impossible to tell that the servers are in the US. A good European host might be just a little quicker for European audiences, but a bad one will be a lot slower!

The service here more than makes up for any imperceptible loss of speed.

These sites are all on FQ:

www.rib.net
www.cconnect.uk.com
www.voodoo-vaudeville.com

They're not very image intensive, but they should give you an idea of the speed.

I used to host my site in the Netherlands at the www.xs4all.nl ISP. But after I switched to FutureQuest it became much more responsive. More curious so as I also use xs4all DSL to connect to the Internet. Speedy servers which are not overloaded apparantly do matter.

You can check it out here: www.digitaldutch.com (http://www.digitaldutch.com/)

For an image heavy section you can check this page:
www.digitaldutch.com/arles/screenshots/

The first contact (limited by the speed of light) takes about 0.2 ms to get from the Netherlands to Florida and back. But after that it is only the server response time that matters.

Not to mention that the current site traffic would cost me $2000 in the Netherlands, while FutureQuest charges less than $100.

I addition this years uptime is over 99.9% a number no Dutch provider known to me comes even close to.

Last thing which was important to me is that my customers are mainly in the USA, which why it makes even more sense to host my site in the USA.
