View Full Version : Password protected sites
Can anyone tell me where to get help in configuring a site with password protection.
Thanks
Tim
If it's on a FutureQuest you can do this easily via the File Manager within your CNC... otherwise htaccess will usually do the trick whether it's on a FutureQuest or not.
Visit the following tutorial for a bit more detail

If you want multiple passwords and usernames, check http://cgi.elitehost.com/acctlite/index2.html
I have been working with that script, and find it easy to use, and very slick.

So Deb,
Does this mean that anyone who then accessed that particular directory on the web would be prompted for a password?
Thanks

Thanks Mont,
Looking forward to the Annual Red River Bash this year! :police:
So do you download this program and install it on Futurequest, or do you implement it from your own hardrive?
Seems very complex, for my simple mind, that is.

Yes you have to install it on the FutureQuest server if you want it to run on your site. I run that program too. I have very little experience with installing programs, but the link Monty gave to Account Manager Lite has AWESOME directions and if you ask a question on the elitehost forums they will answer you. But if I can do it, then just about anyone can :P
If you want each person to have their own user name and pass then this is the way to go. If you just want one user name and password for anyone to use, go Deb's route because it's wicked easy. Both ways will pop up a window to put in the user name/pass and if you get it wrong you get the old access forbidden message.
Good luck
Kara
