Just like to proudly say that Zeus, whis/was featured on the "bachelors" page at RabbitRescue.org was matched with his adoptive home online! Woohoo! We expect him to leave us (I'm his foster home) in Feb (sniff!) - We matched about 30 of the online bunnies to homes last year - but this is my first adoption that resulted from someone seeing him on the web site so I had to brag a little. hehehe http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

hehe - well if someone from out of area wants to adopt they do have to arrange for transportaion adn we do prefer (if not require) that they actually meet the bunny - ther are special circumstances that have happend inother part sof the country with buns - what I mean is liek ointeh mailing list EtherBun which has about 600 subscribers if here's an emergency or a bunny who is ill or too disbabled to be consideerd "adoptable" ( I hate that implication but it is hard to find homes for our "less than perfect" bunnies)peolke will volunteer to help get the abunny to a holme say in another part of the country if somoen wants to take him in - eitehr to adopt or as a sacntuary animal or to foster until they revoer then adopt them to a local family. We call it the "bunderground railroad" hehehe - to my knowledge the bunderground has only been activated maybe 3 times inthe past 2 years??
FOr the most part we do have peole out of state inquiring about adoptin i general and asking to be refered to resourcwes in their local area. I did have a girl from Maine visit a bun a few weeks ago - but Maine is really not that far all things considered. THere are rescue orgs all across the states and some even in canada and we're all networksed pretty good thru the internet. Chances are if your looking to adopt a bun - we can poitn ya to someplace close to home - ther no shortage of adoptable bunnies out there!

check this out:
www.rabbit.org (http://www.rabbit.org)
this is House Rabbit Society - they have chapters all over hte US and some in Canada -
plus a number of independent opreations have split off from local groups as well.

oh yeh I forot to mention - even within our area of peration - we have foster homes scattred throught eastern MA - in which case it can mean an hour or so of driving from one point ot hte next the shelters we work with are also rather distant from each other - so say if there's atoo many bunnies up at the Methuen MSPCA (on the NH border) and we have to pull some immediately to save them form being euthanized (yeeeech!) transportaiotn in some for or another will be arranged for those people who can take some bunns in but like live down my neck of the woods (So SHore) which is over an hour due south - hey may have to stay overnight at a hoe cloaser to the shelter until someone can bring them to the home that agreed to take them.
