custom 404 page in IE 5.0 question

I have been all through AOTA and these forums this morning, but can't seem to find what I am looking for. Using IE 5.0, on a domain with a custom 404 page, I get a "default" looking page with I hit a bad link. Checking this same site with NS4.7, I get my custom page. I tried one workaround without success and was wondering if anyone has developed a solution to this problem.

Hi Monty :)

There are a couple of possibilities with IE not displaying a Custom 404 page.

One would be that the Custom 404 is not at least 512 bytes in size, another is in the individual settings for IE. Both of these were discussed in this thread:

My problem was related to the 512 bytes size requirement, and adding 4 lines of text in the same color as the background solved the problem.
