PS, are avatars only available to site owners?

Yep, I am afraid that having an Avator is a Perk reserved for Site Owners only!

In addition, a site owner has to accumulate 200 posts in order to be able to upload a custom Avator 8}

Just another reason to host your domains at FutureQuest :welcome:

A perk for people with money as well.. when you're in debt and have no job you just have to make do with watching from the outside:(

All the more reason to save your pennies and be thankful there is the ability to "watch" AND "learn" from the inside so that once you are able to set up your own site you are ready to roll :)

Hmmm...I'm not so sure ;). Where there's a will there's a way...believe me! I have no money and no job either...but have just managed to find the money to upgrade my account (had to, or it would have ended up costing me over $30 more for this month :\ . Once you've been hooked by being a website owner, you'll find the way to make the fun last :hehe: .

Best always,

I have to admit I already have an account with another company, who were offering reseller option that worked out really cheap for what I wanted to do (e.g. flat fees for adding new domain and email accounts etc) - not that I'm a reseller but there were a few sites I was wanting to host for me as well as some for friends etc. Without a job it's hard keeping up with the payments all the same, and the level of support and community spirit you have here is rather lacking (not that I'm saying that their support staff aren't good).

I'd still like to have my own account here, and if you were offering dedicated servers for $30 a month I wouldn't hesitate :lick:

If it helps, you've been my favourite host since I first found you, and I've recommended you to others in the past.

Yee, gads! Who wouldn't? Have you really found someone who is offering DEDICATED servers for that price???

(Well, actually I can imagine circumstances under which I would not take advantage of such a offer. A site is only good, if it's up and the Internet connection is working, regardless of the price....)

<edit: would -> wouldn't>

Only if the servers are rack-mounted Commodore 64s.

I'll give you a dedicated server for $30/month!

Where would you like it shipped to? :)

I'll admit that the master know-it-all gurus post less than they did in the early days, but the support at these boards (and *much* more importantly the FQ service desk) is great. Unless of course, you were just talking about support for your current situation (which I must agree we have been to playful with). I don't find anything lacking here in community spirit either. ;)

While we're yee-gaddzing, I have to offer one of my own (in the spirit of bringing AOTA threads off-track). This week I set up a hosting package for a future client under my own name and cc (the account, according to his wishes, will be transferred once the site is complete... I'm more protected this way, too). He needed something small, and I found an $7.00/mo host with no real features and one good comment at a webmaster forum somewhere. Just what he needs. Guess how quickly the account was activated?? 48 hours!!!!!! Forty-eight sixty-minute blocks of time!!!! I was expecting to be FTPing files within a few hours like I would here. I realized how spoiled rotten FQ customers are.

I'm tellin ya, next time some one needs a sub-$10 host, I'm telling them to give up the extra money for sanity of mind and come here if they can budget it. If they can't do that, I'll listen to Deb recommendation from a looong time ago.

On top of that, I did not want my card auto-debitted every month, because I figured it would probably end up being more of a hassle to get off the auto-debit list in a few weeks, anyways. On the order form I typed: "I do not authorize [company name] to automatically debit my credit card." You think they listened to me? :rolleyes: Nope.

Have you really found someone who is offering DEDICATED servers for that price???Nearly! www.uk2.net have RaQ3's with 64Mb, 10.2Gb and 20Gb/month for £25 a month -- that's $35 a month.

There is obviously no support at this price, and it's not until after you have submitted your credit card details that you discover that you have to pay for three years up front!

Unfortunately not (which is why I'd be first in line if FQuest were:P)

Sheesh. That's $1260. I can't imagine they get too many completed sales. Here you have people looking for a real cheap deal (probably because they don't have much money available right now), and they get asked for $1260!!! Can you say, "cancel that request"?

That probably covers the cost of the machine. They plug it in and set it on a shelf somewhere and you're forgotten.

Sorry about that. Ahhh... reading your original post again, you have a typo making "the level of support and community spirit you have here is rather lacking" when you to say "there".

Sorry about that.... how annoying is it to rant for 15 minutes and then find out it was all for nothing?!? :D

Well.. I was actually meaning "the level of support and community spirit you have here is rather lacking there" but it amounts to the same thing. Don't worry, you won't have to put up with me next week as I'm on holiday, you never know I may dissapear again for ages again after.
