Note that FutureQuest is currently reviewing resumes for a Service Desk Rep (that doesn't mind babysitting Bob).

You will find one of our requests posted at ComputerJobs.com the short cut to there can be found by clicking here (http://www.florida.computerjobs.com/job_view.asp?jobid=1290808&siteid=104&sort=pd&view=s&searchid=10639820&page=1&published=1)

And of course the formal request is on the FutureQuest Web Site at
http://www.FutureQuest.net/About/Employment/

If you ever thought working on the other side of the forums would be something you would enjoy, as well as being able to work from home... please do not hesitate to contact us. We're looking for someone who is excited to learn new things and that enjoys taking a challenge.

Thanks!

Deb

I'd love to work for Futurequest! Unfortunately, I don't know anything. I'd be writing stupid questions to myself and then answering "Uh, I don't know - ask Bob"

LOL. Too funny.
I feel a bit the same way. I mean, I know a lot of stuff. But I only post about things that I know about! The other stuff I try to keep quiet about (and there is a lot of that, too). Occasionally I can't control myself and make a fubar.

Well Gang,

I only have one thing to say on this subject,

"Nothing ventured, Nothing Gained"

Ok, you all know me by now and I usually have more than one thing to say :P

I felt woefully inadequate to even think about this job when it was posted almost a year ago. But I found myself coming back and re-reading the post and I kept muttering to myself.

My wife, who has been a pillar of support, kept telling me that if I didn't try I would never know, and what was the worst that could happen? "They would say No" and since I expected that, what did I have to loose.

The bottom line for me was I felt that this would be the Best job in world for me and look what happened, I got hired, and for me it has been the best move I ever made in the employment area in my life!

If you really think that you would like to spend hours and hours searching, thinking and learning then this may be "Just the Ticket" for you, and as I mentioned earlier, you just will never know unless you Try!

My two cents as always ;)
Bob

Ohhh, did I mention I spent almost 8 hours to compose the cover letter to the crummy Resume that I had, writing, changing, walking away, coming back and rewriting, walking away, rewriting, Well you get the idea, cause I knew Deb would read it :) and she did mE

Bob:

I was thinking the same thing when I applied a couple of days ago. I re-read the ad a couple of times and thought, "Hey, I might not be the most qualified (I don't have any PHP experience..), but I might as well apply." No one gets a job if they don't apply for enough. Of course, you had an edge a year ago: The job market was a lot better, which meant less competition on jobs :) It's amazing how much the job market has changed recently.. A lot of the jobs I apply for nowadays (mostly CGI contract ones) receive 75 - 200 resumes.

Given the current thread, I thought at least one qualified person should give it a shot:) (Oops, so much for the customer service skills:P )

You can find out how wonderful I am at www.Zakon.org. (Hey, Deb/Terra are wonderful and they know it; why can't others be too:o )

Of course there's the caveat that

The sysAdmin opening has been filled (to be announced soon)...though resume's are still being accepted for review...

We have received an enormous amount of resume's from those seeking the sysAdmin position... there's certainly a lot of skill out there!

The Service Rep position is still open and we are currently reviewing and accepting resumes for that one. Service Desk Reps are a bit more difficult to find as it takes a special type of person to work that type of job. You'll need to be someone who:

a) Enjoys helping others succeed

b) Does not mind typing the same answer many times over

c) Enjoys working from home

d) Enjoys slow times (doesn't get bored & knows how to find "stuff to do") as well as busy times (can keep up)

c) Is able to find answers to questions they may not always understand (ability to research and learn as you go).

Many of the resumes are "Over Qualified" for the above position as someone "too talented" in the area of Internet Development could become bored with "Tech Support" however someone hoping to become "Too Talented" may find technical support the perfect way to learn and learn and learn....

- Reaching the end of a job interview, the Human Resources person asked the hot-shot young Engineer, fresh out of MIT,
"And what starting salary were you looking for?"
The engineer cooly said, "In the neighborhood of $125,000 a year, depending on the benefits package."

The interviewer said, "Well, what would you say to a package of 5 weeks vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, company matching retirement fund to 50% of salary, and a company car leased every 2 years - for starters, say, a red Corvette?"

The engineer tried to control his excitement, but sat straight up and said, "Wow! Are you kidding?"

"Yeah," the interviewer shrugged, "But you started it."

Many of the resumes are "Over Qualified" for the above position

I might just send my CV then.. I've never been called overqualified yet:)

Hi Deb,

I sent in a resume, and would like to know (if you even know) what kind of time frame you are looking at for the hiring process? Do you have to live in FL? I am currently residing in the Bay Area. Recently I worked for America Online doing tech support and it was a really fun job. Granted, talking to 65-85 people a day for 8 hrs straight got a lil tiring, doing "online" tech support was also fun. So, I just wanted to touch base and see how the selection process was going. Thanks for any input.

Jonny

We'll be responding to each resume that came in... Though I do believe we have filled the positions this go around, I also believe we are going to need to fill both positions again within the next 6 months as we grow.... FutureQuest has some pretty big plans in the very near future that are going to need some talent ready to service them :)

Hi Deb,

I, too, applied for the Service Desk Rep position and just wanted to let you know that your encouragement and openness have been appreciated. I'll definitely keep this on my watch list for future postings.

Congratulations to that lucky guy or gal out there!
