View Full Version : FTP Question
I have tried several times to upload an exe. file of 3.5mgs and can not get it to complete all of it. My connection doesn't time out. I'm using CuteFTP and it says it's doing it in Passive mode, whatever that is. Any suggestions? :confused:

Suggestions;
- Can you resume the file? After it stops uploading, cut the connection, then restart uploading the file and answer Resume when asked to overwrite or resume the file.
- Split the file into smaller chunks. Look on Tucows for a utility, use one that doesn't require the program to be on the other computer, e.g. Steve's File Splitter. On your FQ server, on the command-line, type; cat part1 part2 part3 >> program.exe to put it back together.

Thanks, I'll try that splitter. Not sure I understand where to type in about the putting it back together.

where to typeUsing telnet or ssh login to your account on Phoenix and type the command.
I can't guarantee it'll work, so make a zip file of the program, split it up, upload, put it together and then -again on the command-line- type unzip -t filename.zip to test the integrity of the file afterwards.
I have the splitter program which I will definately keep in case I ever need it, but someone else suggested I turn off the refresh directory inside the CuteFTP and it worked, all of it went up at one time. Thanks though, because that splitter program will come in handy for floppys
