Whenever I try to send a mail to a specific company, I get the following message :
>The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
>Smith, John on 11/02/01 21:24
>No transport provider was available
>for delivery to this recipient.
It always happens with recipient from the same company. Any idea what could be the reasons?
thanks a lot in anticipation.

Sounds to me like their mail system isn't working properly.

Hi everyone!!! I'm new here. Hope you don't mind my jumping right in..
I'm not sure, but I think a similar thing may be happening to me. I have several email accounts set up with MyRealBox.com. These are of the "free" variety, but have been very reliable as MyRealBox is basically a showcase for Novell and several of it's technologies. However, they have been getting pounded lately by spam, and have taken some rather drastic measures to curtail it. One of the things they have started doing is refusing to accept mail from systems that do not have a name associated with them. Here's the message I got from MyRealBox when trying to send from my FutureQuest hosted email account:
"553 Your computer does not have a hostname, you must AUTHenticate"
From MyRealBox:
This means that the senders SMTP server does not have a hostname attached to it's address. Since it is a requirement to have this configured (not just for MyRealBox but for many services available on the Internet), it is usually enough to point out the problem to the system administrator of the sending system to get them to fix their problem.
Interestingly, according to the headers in other email I've sent myself from that account, it indeed shows LOLA as the originating server. Just for grins, here's a bit more info I lifted from the announcement I received from MyRealBox:
If none of this makes any sense to you and you have the problem mentioned above, contact the support person responsible for the offending computer (This could be your ISP or the administrator of the system that cannot send) and read them the following: "Many Internet mail servers will not let me send mail to them because there is no reverse DNS entry for the IP Address I am / your mail server is using. Would you please configure DNS properly and publish your hostnames for your addresses?"
Well, geez, it's only MyRealBox actually! :D
PG, is it possible the company you're sending to has taken some forceful anti-spam measures? Have you tried sending to them from another email account?

The error message "no transport provider was available..."
doesn't sound like anti-spam measures to me. Anti-spam would say something like:
Authenticate
or
we do not relay
or things like that.
When they say "no transport provider was available..."
A transport is a mail server machine. It sounds like one of their servers is down.
Really, the thing to do, is to look up the MX record for that domain, and find out who the responsible person is (postmaster or whoever), and send that person the EXACT error message you are getting, and ask them to look into it, or explain why you are unable to send mail to this particular person.
