Can anybody point me to an easy understand (for the less technically savvy) web site that explains the need for encrypting e-mail containing cc info from the server to home computer.

I am getting nowhere with this guy and I want to be able to say "I told you so"

I haven't found anything except the rather technical.

TIA

The reason for encrypting the credit card information is to prevent it from being stolen. I'm afraid you won't find much explanation for why this is important. If your friend doesn't understand why this is important, I would advise not wasting your time.

You might also want to search some of the major news feeds like zdnet, cnet, etc. for news articles about credit card theft. I have collected a few of the e-commerce news feeds on my site at http://www.rsmarketing.com/news. Searching these sources should turn up some interesting articles also.

I looked there Rich,

I am afraid that he doesn't understand sniffers and root access and how this is done and how prevelant it is.

Hosting service even said that it was ok when I asked them to explain it to him.....said there servers are secure we don't need no stinkin PGP and we ain't gonna install for you or something to that effect.

thanks

Maybe attitudes like this explain why unsecure shopping cart scripts predominate![nbsp][nbsp]Oh sure, the ability to use a https connection to view all your orders STORED, UNENCRYPTED, ON THE SERVER, is convenient - just as getting all your orders in your inbox, also unencrypted.[nbsp][nbsp]But like Rich says, use unencrypted systems at your peril.. Personally, I don't want to find out the hard way.
