does anyone know of a cart system with a back end that prints off orders mailing labels etc?
I know of some but the pricing is relatively high, beginning at around $7,000. IBM's e-commerce packages and other enterprise-type systems usually have these capabilities. They also usually require a separate, dedicated server (almost always NT) to receive the back-end transactions.
Mercantec's SoftCart shopping cart allows transactions to be downloaded in QuickBooks' IIF format. Once imported into QuickBooks, you can print checks, statements, etc.
Another option is to have a developer write an application that runs on your pc or mac that will process incoming fulfillment email (capable of being sent from all shopping carts) and extract data that is printed on bar code printers, label printers, etc.
