Well, it looks like after 2 1/2 months of wresling with vBulletin, we are going to move ahead with it. It is a beast -- but I am beginning to appreciate the OPTIONS the developers give to webmasters.

But, before I take my new vB live... I realized I know next to nothing about MYSQL and what to do in an emergency...

I have phpmyadmin installed....

vB seems to be running very smoothly.

How difficult will it be to move the MySQL db to another server if we end up needing to do that? (we may have to open another FQ account, if we keep growing the way we are)

I am asking here because I don't often get much response over at vB and you all know the servers here really well. :)

Right now I am running vB 2.05beta (trying to hold off till gold for launch)

oh my...and how about allowing the avatars? Let's say I limit the avatar's to 5k (which, I think is even generous) and right now I have 3500 members. lets say 1/2 of them want to use an avatar. What does that equal in disk space?

and can we have users upload images in safe mode? what does that mean?

5k times 1800 = ? mb or gb
(math is hard for me)

Then, how should I set the following to work best on FQ servers:

NIX load option?

Simultanious sessions limit?

Upload In Safe Mode?

What is our "Safe Mode Temp Directory"

How difficult will it be to move the MySQL db to another server if we end up needing to do that? (we may have to open another FQ account, if we keep growing the way we are) The MySQL servers are separate from the server your site is on, so as long as you are sticking with FQ for any potential moves, I don't believe that would be an issue.
