Please help me...

Hello,

Pardon my ignorance here...I am very new to all of this.

I am currently running an Ultimate Bulletin Board on IBB with a monthly lease.[nbsp][nbsp]I was notified today that IBB is closing down in 2 weeks...obviously, I have to find a new server and have been told repeatedly that FutureQuest is the best...

My problem is I have no idea about where to go from here...do I just sign up and re-create my site and then announce a move to my members or is there a way to sign up here and have them take over my current board???

As you can tell, I've never done this before...please help.

Hi Kim,

The order in which I would do it is:

1. Request the account to be activated here - http://www.FutureQuest.net/Order/
[nbsp][nbsp] Within 24 hours of the time you confirm the order we'll provide you with an Activation Letter that will give you the needed information to begin setting up your web site even before the domain name transfer has been completed.

2. Copy the contents of your site to the new server and setup your web site as you'll need it to be once the move is complete.

3. Visit http://Register.FutureQuest.net/ for the needed domain name transfer information (Scroll down to the bottom for specific registrar information)

Once the transfer is complete you'll begin business as usual :)

I would highly recommend letting your current visitors know the situation and explaining that over the next two weeks you'll be working on the transfer.[nbsp][nbsp]This will prepare them for when it happens.

One thing that could affect the ease of the switch is whether or not you have your own domain name.[nbsp][nbsp]Most likely you do, so it's just a matter of the users following the name to the new server.[nbsp][nbsp]If not, you would need to notify them of a changed address.

I was notified today that IBB is closing down in 2 weeks. If it makes you feel any better, my previous hosting situation was just the opposite.[nbsp][nbsp]They shut down unexpectedly, then almost exactly two weeks later I was notified they would not be starting back up...[nbsp][nbsp]:)
