Do you have any plans on upgrading everyone to PHP4?

Just a little disappointed to find that your adverts of 'PHP4 free with every package' doesn't include me. Spent half an hour playing with some scripts wondering why they wouldn't work. Surely not PHP3, I'm sure I've seen PHP4 thrown about your package blurb. I did a phpversion(), oh right, great.

Hmmph.

When packages with PHP3 were activated, PHP3 was advertised on the packages page.[nbsp][nbsp]When packages with PHP4 were activated, PHP4 was advertised... we do only advertise what is currently being offered on the packages and pricing page.

PHP4 is planned for all servers however we are leaning toward doing this after the holiday rush has ended to avoid tossing any monkey wrenches into shopping carts et al.

Searching the forums for PHP4 will reveal much of what is being considered and what will be involved to make the conversion happen.

In good time?!?[nbsp][nbsp]Not good enough.

I'm well aware that when I signed up with futurequest php3 was advertised and the only version avialable. I was happy with it. I'm now aware that php4 is advertised.

It is not clear at all that this option is only available to new customers.[nbsp][nbsp]I just think it is very misleading and some what unfair.

.[nbsp][nbsp]I just think it is very misleading and some what unfair. Unfortunately many would feel the same way if we did upgrade it.

Imagine the other side if we upgrade:

"When I signed on you said I would get PHP3.[nbsp][nbsp]My scripts were developed for PHP3 and will only run with PHP3 and have been running with PHP3 all along.[nbsp][nbsp]Now, right at the holidays you have broken my shopping cart scripts to upgrade to PHP4![nbsp][nbsp]This is not what I was promised when I signed up!"

We must take both sides into consideration.[nbsp][nbsp]The upgrade must happen obviously, but timing is also important.[nbsp][nbsp]This is not a good time to throw monkey wrenches at the servers.[nbsp][nbsp]Stability is the key and we do intend to maintain that.[nbsp][nbsp]

I do hope this helps to give you a little more understanding concerning the reason behind the 'delay'.

As far as the packages -- It's important to understand that the site does state that packages and pricing may change at any time.[nbsp][nbsp]We cannot advertise PHP3 for new accounts as that is only available to existing accounts.[nbsp][nbsp]The Packages & Pricing page is for the advertisement of new packages ....

Also note that the Server Info section within your account does show exactly what versions of the software are installed so that you are quickly able to decide what tools are and are not available to you.[nbsp][nbsp]Using your CNC is a much wiser way to find out what your package includes.
