I've done quite a bit of reading.[nbsp][nbsp]Wondering if the next step should be to set up Apache, PHP and MySQL on my Win 98 machine to test scripts and such.[nbsp][nbsp]If so, what are your recommendations.[nbsp][nbsp]I've downloaded the Win versions of Apache and MySQL.[nbsp][nbsp]I still need to download the SSL package for Apache and PHP Version 3.0.15 to match the FQ server settings, or so I'm thinking.

Another option, some time ago, I attempted to install Linux-Mandrake 6.1.[nbsp][nbsp]I was never able to get the GUI working due to a lack of knowledge of commands and the ability to subsitute a particular file which didn't work with the CD I bought but supposed to have one on the website which would work.[nbsp][nbsp]I downloaded that file (long gone from my harddrive now) but finally gave up.

Which route, if any, would you suggest?

Thanks,
Joel

If all you want to do is mirror the FQ set-up in order to test scripts, I'd suggest you stay with Windows and avoid messing around with Linux. It seems like a waste to spend time setting up and learning a new OS for such a limited mission. The Windows versions of Apache, PHP and MySQL might not be quite as stable as the Linux versions, but they're plenty good enough for setting up a local development/testing environment.
