Hi Mac folks,

We've had a report from a Mac user that a page make-over we are working on does not render correctly under Netscape 4.7x and iCan browsers. All our Macs are ancient and cannot connect to the Net, so we'd like a bit of help, please.

Here is a sample page:

[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] http://www.ezec-mall.com/cotf

which should look like this:

[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp] http://www.ezec-mall.com/cotf/images/cotf-colors.jpg

with white and yellow links in the right-hand nav-bar. We do this with a simple, embedded (in the header) style-spec. (A 'view source' on the displayed page will show you the particulars.)

As we understand it, these stylings on the nav-bar links are not using the 'foo' class colors of white and yellow and are, instead, showing with the main page's red and blue colors.

Please, Mac users, if you could check this page and let me know if you see this problem. You can reply here or directly to me at mailto:salmons@sohodojo.com

Thank you for your help,

Works fine for me in Mac IE5.[nbsp][nbsp]iCab is only a Preview Release and as such does not yet support CSS. I'd recommend not worrying too much about that. If you're really worried, set the table background color using CSS instead of in the table definitions. That way in iCab and other browsers that don't support CSS, the links will show on the standard background.

It also works on Netscape 4.75.

Get thyself an iMac for testing :) You can get a fairly inexpensive one off of eBay. You don't even really need to go that new. I believe all Macintosh computers since 1994 come with a network port built in, but may need an adapter. For at least the last 4 years, Ethernet has been the standard on Macs. However, with a network card added, you can get even the oldest Macs online (I have a Macintosh SE, one of the oldest, that I can use for telnet and mail).

:)
