Many people in my company have been using Claris Emailer for the Macintosh and I haven't been able to configure it for FutureQuest POP email accounts. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Eric,

What are the specific fields it is asking for when setting up the account?[nbsp][nbsp]If you list out what it asks for it may help us to define what should be entered in each....

Deb

p.s. also a link their web site and what version you are using ;)

I decided to go ahead and be assimilated...I'm now an Outlook Express user.
[nbsp]Ack! I will shed a tear for you!
They will never get me to assimilate! Never!

hi ya'll.

i'm one of those who refuse to be assimilated. even capt. janeway fights the borg!

i'm using Claris Emailer, v2.03, the latest and last version. it is an excellent program and i'm finding it hard to find another program that allows as many options.

however, i am finding it hard to hook up to futurequest, so will list the particulars that need to be filled in.

account name: can be anything a person wants to use (not important to the email process)
user name:
email account:
email password:
smtp server:
email address:

i have reconfigured this in many ways, using the information i received in my activation letter. and don't take this personally futurequest...but i haven't had this difficult time with other servers. (there had to say it, to let you know i kinda know what i'm doing!) ;)[nbsp][nbsp]

thanks,

julie
jakgraphic@aol.com[nbsp][nbsp]email address for now

p.s.

the way i have it configured now the error message says:
"** Pop server error “-ERR unable to scan $HOME/Maildir”

Things to check for:

1. Setup
user name: -- Make sure this includes your VMIP- usually xdomain-username
email account: username@domain.com
email password: ********
SMTP server: domain.com
email address: hmmm same as email account? (unsure what it is referring to by asking for both "email account" and "email address" you may need to consult your email client's help file to decipher specifically what they are looking for between these two)

2. FROM Address
This must match the same address as the account you are setting up.[nbsp][nbsp]Reply To: can be anything you like but FROM must match

3. If assuring your VMIP- and FROM address etc doesn't help try the following (and variations thereof.. as some older programs do not like the VMIP- so you have to take a longer way around it)

Email account: VMIP-username@domain.com
email address: again refer above..but probably VMIP-username@domain.com
email password: ********
SMTP server: domain.com

4. Also look at http://www.aota.net/Troubleshooting/port25.php3

hi deb,

i've tried all of the above. no go.

and i've also tried "questmail" and that gives that same..."unable to access" the directory listed in my last email.

i'd like to get this working in emailer, as most of my mac clients are still using the program and i'm trying to lure them to change providers.

if it comes down to it i guess we could all change to eudora...but i'd still like to figure out how to fix this.

cheers,

julie

I've just tested the root jakgraphic.com POP account via QuestMail and it seems to be working fine... I'm not quite sure exactly what the problem is?

I used:

Username: xjakgraphic-jakgraphic
Hostname: jakgraphic.com
Password: ****** (from your activation letter)

Questmail doesn't contain an "Unable to access $HOME/maildir error ... not sure where you got that at?

I began at http://QuestMail.FutureQuest.net

Please retry entering via questmail and double checking the information you are using with your activation letter...

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! :)

deb... yah know, thanks for the actual typing out. please excuse the reading into stuff, but i thought the "x" in "xdom" was representing a generic domain, so i never typed it in.

and as for Emailer... i dropped off the "vmip" and have the following set up. works like a dream sending and receiving email.

NOTE: i'm going to use my own email information so as not to confuse myself. ;)

user name: jakgraphic
email account: xjakgraphic-jakgraphic@jakgraphic.com
password: *********
server: jakgraphic.com
email address: whateverineed@jakgraphic.com

thanks again deb for walking me through the early "duh" stages. :)
