Hi, everyone. I have to ask a favor. I am trying to use "Create a Quiz" to
make a phonogram test. But my sound recorder will not record. I need the
sounds of the phonograms in the Writing Road to Reading and Teaching Reading
at Home recorded so I can use them for the quiz. I need them saved like
this: card 1 (b) as "1.wav"[nbsp][nbsp]Right now, I'd be happy to get the first 26
letters of the alphabet with the vowel sounds being only the short sounds.
Is anyone with a working sound recorder willing to help me out? I'd be glad
to send you the quiz files when I finish, in addition to the ones I'm making
for Abeka's 4th grade history and science but you'd have to own or download
Create a Quiz for it to work.
Sincerely,
a desperate mom/teacher,
julieA

My sound input stuff is messed up or I'd help. As a possible alternative, I've downloaded many shareware educational programs that have[nbsp][nbsp]letters and sounds included as .wav files. Problem is, despite the screen name, I haven't taught primary in a while and forget which programs.

You might start here:

Good luck!

Julie, Do you have a editing program such as cooledit?

If so I can send you a single file and you can chop it up into individual wav files.

As I mentioned before, if you don't, go to the syntrillium.com site and get their cooledit 96 program.[nbsp][nbsp]It's VERY easy to use.[nbsp][nbsp]Let me know and I'll record the file and send it to you.

Donna is going to start homeschooling Kate (out 7 yr old) this year and any cooperation I guess is real helpful.

Joel

I'm going to LA next week so I can record it probably monday nite in the hotel room.[nbsp][nbsp]I'm frantically trying to get some PC boards built for another instructor this weekend, or I'd do it tomorrow.

Thanks, Joel. I'll go download the cooledit. Hope I can get it to work. I'm not having much luck these days with installs, etc. If I get this quiz program working, I'll send ya'll a copy for your daughter. I'm designing it for our seven year old son so ya'll might like it. sincerely, julieA

I saw your post on the microphone ... why do we always check the obvious stuff last???

Anyway cooledit is very easy to use.[nbsp][nbsp]I'd suggest any recording you do, do it at 44.1KHz in stereo.[nbsp][nbsp]That way you can always easily cut a CD as well.

We'd love to see and try out your quiz ... kate is starting 2nd this year, but our Sarah is inbetween K & 1st.
