Argh! Pegasus Mail seems to have broken on me. All was fine till yesterday, then this morning I can't connect to SMTP. Downloading mail is fine, but I time out when I try to connect to send mail. I've tried this several times today with three different accounts (3 different domains) with FQ, two on Taz and one on Six, but none of them work.
Deb assures me that it's not a problem on FQ's end. I rebooted the whole puter, still no good. I know I hadn't changed my info and settings, but went back and re-entered it anyway, still no good.
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm thinking I'll have to backup my saved and sent mail and see if I can download a new version of it (this one being two or three months old, I think), but the business visa card is expected next week and then I can actually BUY something better, but I need email before then.
So if anyone has any ideas about how I can get this functioning again, PLEASE help.
Thanks!

Hey GF...........
Try another email client on your computer, like Netscape or outlook express, to see if you can get it to work that way. If it does, it is probably some glitch with your email client that you are currently using.
Also, it might help if you have the exact error message that you are getting.
It ain't FQ, things are working fine on this end! http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

Well, the puter has serious problems anyway. I'm using Shaytar's spiffy new puter now, while running various fixer programs on the other one. Scandisk finally finished, but defrag locked up and I'm now rebooting it. Sigh . . . When that finishes, I will try setting up Netscape mail for FQ (I really don't like Netscape mail) and see what that does. Thanks for the suggestion.

i remember Benson going through something similar to this.. you might want to check with your ISP.
http://www.aota.net/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000086.html here you will see this is another email client, but the same prob as yours.
cctech instructed Benson to try something via telent .. anyways, try that, if you can't telnet in to port 25, then I would contact your ISP and see if there isn't something they could tell ya.
you keep mentioning another computer, does that one have the same probs as the one you are trying to use? *curious*

Hey Hearts,
Thanks again!
Shaytar hadn't been using her puter for email since this started because she's been in the middle of term papers and final exams. I checked it, and same error.
I tried that telnet thing listed in the post from TeRRa to Benson (who seemed to be having exactly the same problem as I'm having), and it sent a blank email from leafwind@leafwind.com to bekariso@susogi.net . . . I have emailed (from YahooMail) support@futurequest.net with all my settings to make sure they're right . . .
I phoned my ISP (The Most Online with Sprint Canada (what a joke)), who were really bitter to learn that I was not using the IE3 and IE3 email that they provided, and basically said they can't offer any support for problems with any other software or internet services, and tried to push it all off on FQ and the unreliability of internet routing (yeah right). He also sounded really intimidated that I could throw out the terminology like SMTP and asking if it was still set to port 25 for outgoing mail, etc, etc. I wouldn't let up on him, telling him that as a dial-up connection provider, they're responsible to make sure that I can connect to whatever working services on the internet I want to.
Anyway, he confirmed that the ports were still 110 for incoming and 25 for outgoing mail and had not changed, and that no restrictions had been put on my account, but other than that, the only help he would offer was to find the old IE3 mail and try the sprint mail account on that and he would help me if there was a problem with it, and also to use IP addresses instead of domain names for my server settings . . . anyone know what those would be for FQ?
Anyhow . . .
very frustrated . . .

Double and Triple check your TCP/IP network drivers...!!!
To use something other than leafwind.com as the incoming/outgoing -- try taz.futurequest.net or 205.244.185.204
If neither of those work... let me know

sounds like your ISP and my ISP have everything in common.. NOT TOO USEFUL!
I am so sorry this is happening to ya. Kinda odd that everything was working so well until now, huh?
I hope ya get it figured out.

Nope . . . neither taz.futurequest.net nor 205.244.185.204 make any difference. Thanks . . .
*sigh*

Hearts: it sounds all too common among ISP's, eh?

Okay, good suggestion, cuz now I find out that things are worse than I first thought -- Netscape won't connect to the server to send mail, either. Blah . . . stupid puter. Maybe I need to do what TeRRa does and kick it. Hmm . . .
Still desparate for other ideas . . .
Right now I think I might download an updated virus checker and run that on it. :-(
