I am interested in learning Linux. I have an opportunity to receive some very good training on Unix. It is made very clear that only Unix will be mentioned and the existence of Linux will not be even acknowledged in this training.

My question is: For someone who knows only DOS and Windows 95 pretty well, how well would Unix training prepare me for Linux?

It will serve you well...

Linux is based on the Unix architecture... There are many ports of Unix... Linux/BSDI/FreeBSD/SCO/AIX etc...

It will give you the basis and fundamentals of the operating system... Then you can migrate to the platform specific tools, like GNU's...

Any Unix training is better than no training...
