i recently downloaded Nutscape 4.5 and ever since I have done so, I keep coming up with fatal errors. Seems to be more from the email portion of the program. Especially when sending mail. http://www.aota.net/ubb/frown.gif

Anyone else having probs with this version?

Thinking I will uninstall and put my older version back on.

Hello,

I've heard nothing good about 4.5 - I'm sticking with 4.08, and it still gives me illegal operations left and right. You would think Netscape would have learned by now that you can't divide by zero http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

Anyway, I use Explorer most of the time anyway. I've heard bad things about it too, but haven't seen any yet.

oh dang it man the same exact things was happening to me and I couldnt bring up composer at all - I wish I could remeber how I fixed it - cuz I did fix it dang it . . .

if you go inot prefernce and disable all teh java/javascript it should crash - but I have them all enabled and I cant for the life of me remeber what the solution was - ot would crash on certan websites too -
oh man this is gonna bother me all night -

onyproblem is I cant seem to view applets and noone has answered my question below http://www.aota.net/ubb/frown.gif(

poop!
hmmm oh yeh what you may want to try is back up a copy of your files in /users and uninstall Netscape completely -
then do a clean install on nutscape 4.5 - then you can just replace your user profle folder back in there - I think thats what I ened up doing - I had to comlete unisaltt it all first.

Hey Lea...

As for the java applets.. I haven't had any probs with that using this crappy version of Nutscape! And I beat ya to the punch.. hehehe.. I saved the users files already! http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif

the only prob I am having is with the email program portion. Especially when I go to send email.. on ocassion, it when it sends, it does do that.. then it freezes up my computer or I get all these blue screens of death blaring at me .. eeeeeeeeeks.. I hate that! http://www.aota.net/ubb/frown.gif

Since I had that program called nuts and bolts.. I have been using that program to see if it would help me eliminate any further probs.. I ran something the other day.. I think it was "check up" and since, the probs seemed to have minimized a great deal. Not to mention scan disk every time i get that horrid blue screen with all these numbers/letters of some kind of code!

Netscape has a FAQ page.. I just am too lazy to go over there and find it. http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif

heheh I never have found the FAQ helpful man Nutscape never got hte answers to the problems I have with it anyway thinkI will try jusy reinstalling the whole thing tomorrow - I duno why it iant working - dont have that problem onthe otehr puters I use http://www.aota.net/ubb/frown.gif argh
Nuts and Bolts is a necessity http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif before that I used PC Medic which preformed the same checkup fucntions as N&B and was put out by the same Co - I dont think they make it now anymore - N & B pretty much replaced it and added lots of kewl stuff to the basic idea.

hehe N&B was the saving fgrace that got me thru that horrible win98 upgrade! ack!

yehman probs come and go nthis computer once I was having this thing with my modem I'd go todsialin and it would reborr my computer instead - duno how it happen or how it got fixed but it was temporaty and then tere was this thing where windows would freewze if I shut it off too soon after exiting out of certain programs (ICQ mostly, Netscape) - thats ok now
then tehre was that thing wih netscape crahing at certain website -
SOme of these problems were never diagnosed (pre-utility installment hehe) and they just went as swifty as they came.
/me shrugs it just has a mind of its own.
sometimes the weird problems can be do to disk errors and once run a scan disk it quiets down otehr times it ust unexplaned - weird huh?

If you run email first instead of the borwser part do ya stil get the blue screen ?
That wahat was happening even if I ran the part that scrwed up everything first - liek it wuld still get kinda weird on me -

*sigh*
/me thinks they should officially change the name to Nutscape hehehe

hey Lea...
one thing I did... was drag that middle bar down to the bottom .. so that darn NUTSCAPE page won't load in my email anymore.. that really seems to have helped a lot!

And i am still figuring out N&B .. i just got it.. the bomb shelter thingie.. well.. it bombed my computer! hehehe. I have a friend that works for mcaffees.. and he said.. just shut it down and take it outta the start up menu.

I have yet to figure out what all this stuff means! I know not to use that clean sweep feature.. as it wants to delete all my fonts!

I think this is for advanced users.. and I ain't that! http://www.aota.net/ubb/wink.gif But poking around is kinda fun and I love their scan disc and the disc frag.

Well.. better post.. cuz Andrew has scheduled to shut us down.. hehehe.

G'nite.

The bomb shelte5r dont do that for me - ACtually I think I liked the crash guard on PC Medic better it worked better but nayway - I use all that other stuff the clean sweep or whatver but you have to know what your doing hehe all your fonts yeeesh I've never gotten that haha

I found the following interesting pages on netscape site.

I think any of them could be appropriate for sending in some technical question, but I think that the last one is best.

http://home.netscape.com/feedback/general.html
http://help.netscape.com/contact.html
http://help.netscape.com/forms/help-client.html

Maybe the following articles from ns help you
http://help.netscape.com/kb/client/970113-1.html
http://help.netscape.com/kb/client/970203-1.html

It seems that Netscape has great support. I have no idea where to find such contact information for Microsoft.

Greetings from an IE user

Knock on wood, but I don't have a problem in the world with Communicator 4.5 - on 3 different machines. I usually uninstall the old before putting on a new version (saving my sacred bookmark.htm file).

Meanwhile, MSIE crashes for me when I have to run it (bleeaaacchhh).

OTOH, I like Outlook Express better than Netscape for email. <shrug>

Cheer up! AOL owns Netscape now so... ;-)
