We want to buy a scanner. Plan to use it for scanning photos, logos, artwork (black and white, and color), to put up online.

Any recommendations?
(we ne'er own-ed a scaanner before) http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
Thanks!

Hi Shaytar!
I bought a Microtek ScanMaker V310 a few months back and it was a bargain. It's not top of the line of course but it's all you need for online graphics. The full featured resolution scanners are overkill for web graphics anyway.
I chose this scanner because of the bundled software that comes with it. If you go to the Microtek home page you can find the specs.
After rebate this thing cost me $39! Be prepared - sometimes these rebates can take several weeks to get.
Here is a tip - if you're in an area with stores like Best Buy, Comp USA or the like - watch your Sunday paper for ads. If you see something that you want be there when they open the store that day - the real bargains go fast! I saw this same model advertised a few weeks ago for $9 after rebate!!! Can't do any better than that can you http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif
Another tip - if you're not in a hurry and you don't see what you want then wait until after the holidays. It has been my experience that are always sales of surplus inventory then.
Hope this helps - good luck... http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

I should also mention, I guess, that we're in Canada, so prices will necessarily be higher.

$9 after rebate! wow!!

Thanks again,
Shaytar

I once got 64 megs ram for the price of one with rebate but it took 2 months to get the money back - but definately worth it since we're talking $75 - if you can front the money adn wait rebates are a sweet thing!
