Did you ever think of a great domain name, go to check availability, and discover that it is already registered?[nbsp][nbsp]Such is life, right?[nbsp][nbsp]

What really aggravates me, is when the person who owns this domain:

A)[nbsp][nbsp]Has it registered to register.com's nameservers with the register.com placeholder, and the domain has been registered for years, but it's just sitting there collecting dust!

B)[nbsp][nbsp]Doesn't have it setup on any servers - the old "Cannot find server - The page cannot be displayed" error. - The Perfect Example (http://www.fv.com/)

C)[nbsp][nbsp]Has the site up and running, but it's ugly![nbsp][nbsp]It's just an uninformative, hellishly designed site.[nbsp][nbsp]You think, "is that the best you could do with this awesome domain name?" - The Perfect Example (http://www.fve.com/) - go ahead, click on one of the links in the Navbar ;)

Anyway, no real point to this post except to vent!

I can relate.[nbsp][nbsp]There's a variation of one of my site's domain names that looks something like a bordello.[nbsp][nbsp]It occasionally grabs the attention of my users - particularly the ones who are new to the net and all it offers (and let me tell you, I have WAY more than my fair share of net newbies, LOL) - but the real measure is that my longterm users don't seem give it a second look.[nbsp][nbsp]The ammunition is to just plug away at being the VIABLE alternative.[nbsp][nbsp]Longevity and endurance are the name of the game.[nbsp][nbsp]And I feel the graceful thing to do, is offer a link to the site, and let quality speak for itself.

Do I really WANT a user . . . who prefers the other site anyway?[nbsp][nbsp]I have come to believe that there are indeed a few "disposable" users out there.

Have you been to www.rabbitrescue.com (http://www.rabbitrescue.com) ? ---- hmm well darn they have fixed this site - it used to be really gawdy with like 10000000 animated gifs of bunnies and flowers and such and scary backgrounds and everything clashed, and it took like all day to load - so never mind that one...it *was* really hideous when it[nbsp][nbsp]first opened. ------

Oh yeh - I can't forget to mention that MA Rabbit Rescue paid the peoepl who broke away and joined House Rabbit Society $1000 for the rabbitrescue.org name - This was 2 years ago and they have done absolutely NOTHING with it - I had even told them they could keep the old set up and such - minus the rabbits we took with us, but they never bothered to transfer them or make any effort to use this domain... check it out... www.rabbitrescue.org (http://www.rabbitrescue.org)

DOH!

All I can say is DOH!
