I look after a number of sites happily hosted by FQ.[nbsp][nbsp]I have just established another IRM, and in registering the domain name I notice that the IP address for FQ's second DNS is changed (was 63.95.220.68; is 63.151.112.2, is now 209.116.212.2).[nbsp][nbsp]The owner is the technical contact.

Should I now change the entry for all the domain names registered with the old IP address?[nbsp][nbsp]Or is it ok to leave them, as the name "ns2.FutureQuest.net" ia still correct?

Thanks.

Why they still demand both is beyond me and only adds to confusion...

The only thing you should need to enter is the DNS server name:
ns1.FutureQuest.net
ns2.FutureQuest.net
and optionally
ns3.FutureQuest.net

Because in all cases of the registrar, they simply ignored any IP address you entered - because truth be known it's *not* even necessary (or used)...

When it goes into the root name servers, it entered as such:

domain.com.[nbsp][nbsp]IN NS ns1.futurequest.net.
domain.com.[nbsp][nbsp]IN NS ns2.futurequest.net.

Nowhere in that domain resource record makes mention of our IP address, which is controlled by a whole other registration system...

Hopefully embedded in my response - you will find the answer to your question...
