Guys,
I'm having a real bad few days (I inadvertantly nuked four of my main mysql tables, thank gawd for Terras backup, all my replies to Service@futurequest.net just bounce right back; I have no idea why and just to top things off I have the @#%$!! flu which just won't go away)
Anyway,to the icing on the cake.[nbsp][nbsp]I thought I would use Joker for the first time to register my MySQL domain.[nbsp][nbsp]I fill the register box in only to be told that my email, hosting@dmcity.com, is already being used by another account![nbsp][nbsp]Thinking my current state may be contributing to some sort of memory loss I attempt to login trying all my preferred passwords.[nbsp][nbsp]Nada.[nbsp][nbsp]Ok, let's try the 'forgot password' link and send it to the owner of dmcity.com.[nbsp][nbsp]Now I KNOW that's me.[nbsp][nbsp]Ha![nbsp][nbsp]Now it's telling me there's no domain data in it's database.[nbsp][nbsp]You tell me...
Anyone give me a cheap working alternative to Joker ?

I'm not sure where service@fq goes, but I learned the hard way (okay, so it's more of a RTFM issue, LOL) that for support@fq email, when it says REPLY ONLY BETWEEN THESE LINES near the bottom . . . one better do it that way.[nbsp][nbsp]Also, delete any sig file at the bottom of your reply email.
Frustrating about the registrar stuff :(!!
I'll join ya in a gin and tonic, it's been a month of yuck here, this week too, nevermind that it's only Wednesday.
Try emailing Joker's support, if you haven't already.[nbsp][nbsp]They will probably get back to you within a day or two (possibly sooner, from what others have said).
Dan
Of, if you don't have any other domains with Joker which you need the old login for, just setup and use a new email like dns-admin@dmcity.com to use with Joker.[nbsp][nbsp]
Dotster isn't bad, but Joker is still cheaper and faster.
Hmmm...one alternative I can think of is:

You do not need to 'Register':
mysql.dmcity.com
as 'mysql.' is a subdomain, just like the default subdomains setup when your account is created:
dmcity.com
www.dmcity.com (http://www.dmcity.com)
ftp.dmcity.com
mail.dmcity.com
ra.dmcity.com
pop.dmcity.com
mlm.dmcity.com
When you are placed/upgraded to the backside MySQL engines, I add another subdomain to your existing domain:
mysql.dmcity.com
All of this is handled in our DNS, with no action or registration on your part...
I am quite sure that the Registrars will error you out if you even attempt to register:
mysql.dmcity.com
Does this make sense yet?

Terra,
Yes it does all make sense ;)[nbsp][nbsp] The original confusion stemmed from a paragraph in the mysql activation email you sent me when you brought my five other databases online -
"Note that 'MySQL.dmcity.com' will NOT work until your domain name is properly pointing to FutureQuest's DNS servers. If you have not yet transfered your domain name, you can replace 'MySQL.dmcity.com' with '63.95.221.121', however note that this IP address is subject to change without warning. As soon as you have transfered your domain, you will need to change the hostname to 'MySQL.dmcity.com'."
I mistakenly took this as a requirement for a new domain and not as a sub domain of dmcity.[nbsp][nbsp]I'll assume this is the activation email sent out to all new FQ MySQL users in which case the propagation paragraph makes perfect sense.[nbsp][nbsp]If the first four paragraphs of your reply here had been added directly below the above paragraph I would have 'clicked' straight away.
Anyway Terra, apologies for the confusion on my behalf and thx for sorting it.
On a seperate, but related note, is it possible to put AOTA's directions for backing up MySQL dbases into a single file, say mysqlbackup.sh, and run it via cron ?[nbsp][nbsp]You'll understand why I'm asking this ;)[nbsp][nbsp] I've tried running Mr Blunts mysql backup script but without success but I can run AOTA's from the prompt np.

-= Inept is not really my middle name .... honest =-
DUH...I see Terra's wide-awake and alert...
And I was getting ready to ask Dean about what he planned to offer on this new mySQL site - darn. :0
