This is infuriating. Out of numerous registrations in the past done through Joker, one time my credit card rejected the charge. I was notified by Joker within minutes and was able to correct the situation. Nearly three weeks ago I registered another domain with them, started working on the site, and today they sent me an email, Subject: WWW.JOKER.COM: ERROR 178147 (xxx.com) informing me that the charge was rejected. 16 days late! And they cancelled the domain!

I was a little worried the last time I used Joker about two weeks ago because I did not get any confirmation email from them.[nbsp][nbsp]

The URL started working the next day, so I assumed it was just a mail glitch.[nbsp][nbsp]Then 10 days later out of the blue I got the confirmation, so they do seem to be running VERY slow with the bookkeeping right now.

But if everything goes right, the domain seems to start propagating about 12 hours faster than when registering through Dotster who is my next best choice.

Based on people's comments about the different registrars, there definitely seems to be a trend developing:

1) New registrar comes along and offers great service, competitive pricing, and good account managability.

2) New registrar slowly becomes a not new registrar.

3) Suddenly not new registrar becomes bloated, disorganized, and terribly slow registrar.

4) Remains to be seen...

I have just one word...

Dotster.[nbsp][nbsp]Each and every time I call them a live person answers within 4 rings, and they are always so polite and helpful.[nbsp][nbsp]I'm glad I moved all my domains to them - one less thing to worry about ;) .

Joi~
Keeping my fingers crossed they stay this good...

I ordered a new domain with joker on 11/12. I just got the confirmation letter yesterday! :(

Fortunately, the domain has long since been working.

I think I will send them a letter of complaint.

Trouble in paradise? I hope not, but I am still going to use them. Dishonest Register Inc. is making me cling on to Joker like I would for dear life. :P

From the description given, and knowing what has happened at several other registration sites, it sounds like Joker has been hit with batches of fraudulent credit card charges. If so, this would require them to manually confirm each transaction, which can add substantially to the time to receive confirmations.

Interesting comments, Rich. Perhaps that explains the really delayed confirmation I received yesterday. Because with my other two domains, Joker couldn't have been better, or quicker. Until this third time (wasn't the third time supposed to be a charm?), I've been totally tickled with them.

Still, I had no problems other than receiving the confirmation note extremely late.

Yikes![nbsp][nbsp]I ordered lazarushouseonline.com on Oct 10 and got the first acknowledgement at 2:30pm, and the credit card payment ack at 4:27.

Made a change yesterday to the nameservers and got the ack in about 20 minutes; the change already works today.

My experience with Joker has been very good, but these delays being reported are worth watching...trouble in Oz?

Happened to me too, kinda made me mad.[nbsp][nbsp]Register shows the domain as on FQ DNS servers.[nbsp][nbsp]CORE shows that the domain is available.

Bit concerned about Joker now...

Just wanted to put my 2 cents in about Joker.[nbsp][nbsp]I got set up as a reseller with them about a year ago.[nbsp][nbsp]It was complicated to get set-up but since then everything has been great.[nbsp][nbsp]I have registered dozens of domain names with them.[nbsp][nbsp]The confirmation email always arives within a few hours and the doamin name is always completely working within a day.

The reason I haven't had any problems may be because I have a resellers account with them.[nbsp][nbsp]Every couple of months I transfer a few hundred dollars from my credit card to my account with Joker and then payments for each domain name are drawn from that resellers account.[nbsp][nbsp]Therefore, my individual domain name orders do not require a credit card transaction

Looks like Joker is back to normal.[nbsp][nbsp]Ordered two new domains and recieved the final confirmation mail within two hours.[nbsp][nbsp]Not bad - just like the good ol days![nbsp][nbsp]

--But of course, they'll never match the 12 minute replies of FutureQuest :)
