View Full Version : trying to transfer registrar, NSI to Joker

My .com expires in two weeks. Since I've been registering domain names for the past year or more for about $12 each at Joker it irks me to pay $70 to NSI again.
The "transfer registrar" template at Joker looked pretty straightforward, but failed. The following Problem(s) have been found:
* New Owner your specified COCO-Handle:name/companyname is not same to the current entry. You are not allowed to modify anything (for example name/address) regarding the owner of a domain when initiating a transfer. I made no changes so I can't figure out what they're referring to.
While waiting for their reply to my query about this I'm wondering if anyone else has had problems transfering registrars or has any tips for me.
Thanks,
-Brian
Hi Brian,
an ownerchange will be assumed, if the address, the[nbsp][nbsp]name of the registrant or the[nbsp][nbsp]name of the company within[nbsp][nbsp]the COCO-Handle for the OWNER-C is different to the current whois-output for the domain, so you have to use a COCO-Handle, which exactly corresponds to the
registrant-record according to the current whois-output for the domain.
In case of a ownerchange during the registrar-change,[nbsp][nbsp]we will decline the request.
From Joker.com
You need to make sure the COCO handle you are using has the exact same information as NetSol, name, address, phone number email address.[nbsp][nbsp] Everything must be the same, I had one rejected because I listed a different telephone number.
I also seem to remember seeing somewhere that you could not transfer a domain from one Registrar to another if it was within the 30 day period of renewal,[nbsp][nbsp]but I can't find anything on that right now, so I may be mistaken?
Hope this helps :)

Can't you renew just the one year, rather then the 2 year/$70, at NetSol?[nbsp][nbsp]I mean, I hope you can get transferred first and deal just with Joker . . . but if not, seems to me you can pay single year rates at NSI.
...also trying to swap to Joker, and having to do lots of fancy NSI faxing first, because I was a bit of an idiot in my initial registration in terms of filling out the form badly.
What NetSol is doing, is when they mail you the renewal notification they note that this is for 2 years.
However if you visit the website to pay, you will find that you have the option for just one year as well as others.

I also seem to remember seeing somewhere that you could not transfer a domain from one Registrar to another if it was within the 30 day period of renewal If that is true, NetSol missed an opportunity to exercise that right on a domain I just transferred for a client.[nbsp][nbsp]He had about three weeks to go before expiration, and successfully transferred to dotster.[nbsp][nbsp]The transfer FINALLY went in two days before the expiration date, but it did go through.
I've also seen you can't change registrars if you haven't had the domain at the current registrar for a certain amount of time... 60 days, I think.

I recently completed my last domain move from NS to dotster...I believe it was within the 30 days before renewal ;) .[nbsp][nbsp]

Well Gang,
Apparently, I was incorrect about moving a domain from one register to another if it was within 30 days of it's renewal.
I had a domain that was within 22 days of expiring and NetSol just confirmed that they were honoring the request to move the domain to another Registrar.
However, both Joker and NetSol do prohibit you from moving a domain to another Registrar if it was just ordered or renewed within the prior 60 days.[nbsp][nbsp]That's specified in their TOS.

I believe there is a rule that you can't transfer a domain name within 60 days of its initial registration.[nbsp][nbsp]Maybe that's what you were thinking of.[nbsp][nbsp]I've had an attempt to transfer from NSI to Joker fail for that reason.
Has anyone successfully changed registrar from NetSol to Joker when all they are not the sole contact listed for admin/technical/billing at NetSol?
I have the following problem and Joker's site is pretty useless - their help via email and their web interface has proved totally circuitous where they tell me to go to their web interface when in fact that's where the original enquiry was made!
joloda.com has three different people listed for admin, technical and billing contact. Joker requires you to fill in these, but requires COCO handles. Two of the contacts listed for joloda.com don't have COCO handles. Then there is the problem of listing the DNS servers. It asks for COHO handles. What are Futurequest's COHO handles as joloda.com is hosted here?
Do I really have to go to NetSol first and change the contacts so it shows one person for all three contacts to progress with this? Futurequest does have a COHO doesn't it? I don't want to go to Dotster or anywhere else as I have most of my other registrations at joker and want them under the same umbrella ... though boy do they make that difficult with their crummy interface.
As usual, any help would be much appreciated.
TIA
Joe.
Good Morning Joe :)
The quick and easy part;
FutureQuest's name servers are listed at Joker as follows:
COHO-753
COHO-754
COHO-755
I use COCO-7242 for FutureQuest as Zone Contact, however that would be up to you.
Regarding the contacts, you need to create the Joker Handles or COCO handles for each of the contacts. This is done by going to "Service Zone". Once logged in select Contacts/Create. Enter the information exactly as it is in NetSol's database and once you have completed this you will be able to enter their spcific COCO handles in the appropriate fields in the Order Form.
Hope this helps,
Bob
- Isn't it refreshing to know that at least one Registrar calls themselves what NetSol has become :P -

Re-reading this thread...
NetSol trying to do everything they can to hang on to us...
Even after my domain had been transferred from NetSol to Dotster, I was still receiving renewal notices from them with threats to deactivate the domain if I didn't pay. I think this went on until a year after I transferred. That was when I was making calls to Dotster to confirm that my domain was indeed registered by them. I wonder how many people get scared and pay the money anyway...:\
