Domain propagation is a funny thing

Finally, my domain registration from Sunday got completed today. And I've been able to set up my DNS records.

Funny thing:
The DNS for the web page isn't resolving yet, but I'm having no trouble sending e-mail to my new domain from a hotmail.com test account and from a myrealbox.com test account. Wierd, huh?

Do MX records generally propagate faster than web pages?

I don't know about faster...I've seen it go both ways, but I do know they propagate separately which can cause a great deal of confusion for the site owners especially those going through it for the first time around.
