http://www.namebargain.com/ Note: If you are interested in registering domain names for business or personal use, please click here to go to register.com.:( :O

This name bargain thing is leaving a really bad taste in my mouth, I don't think I'll be looking to register for any of their services (unless their new international character domain names are exclusive to them of course).

Also does anyone know how long it takes for Register to reply to a ticket filed?

Outrageous, and from a company I used to expect so much better of:

I had an issue with Register.com, and the support ticket was filled within 24 hours.[nbsp][nbsp]The first guy screwed it up, but everything was fixed and operational within 24 hours.

It takes forever.[nbsp][nbsp]They (Register.com) is saying that the office is swamped and that your patience is appreciated.[nbsp][nbsp]It's been this way for week's now.

You may want to give them a jingle at:

toll free US & Canada: 1 800-899-9724
outside US: +1 212-798-9200
fax: 212-629-9306

I filled some tickets with Register.com some time ago and had no problems at all.[nbsp][nbsp]They were prompt and very friendly (could it be that the upcoming Xmas season is having an effect on them?).

On another note, I stopped registering domain names with them now (not because they are bad).[nbsp][nbsp]I switched to Dotster.com because of the price; $15 per domain name.[nbsp][nbsp]The registration process is some what slower than Register.com but check out the price difference ($35 at Register.com).

I've registered more than 30 domain names with Dotster.com and still have not faced any problems.[nbsp][nbsp]I highly recommend it (they just added URL Forwarding).

I don't see any information in Dotster's FAQ about URL forwarding.[nbsp][nbsp]I don't know much about URL forwarding at all in fact - is it just frames based like the free forwarding services I've seen, or is it better?

Specifically, does Dotster's URL Forwarding forward all calls to pages and subdirectories as well as the main Domain?[nbsp][nbsp](For example,[nbsp][nbsp]will MyURL.com/pagename.html forward to www.reallylongurl.com/MySiteID/pagename.html?) (http://www.reallylongurl.com/MySiteID/pagename.html?))

Thanks.

JEFF:

Here is a quote taken from one of Dotster's newsletters (I swear, I did not subscribe to this.):

"We've just added several new features to the Dotster Web site to better assist you, including URL Forwarding and our online renewal system! And we will continue to add new features and services to the Dotster site, including online Registrar Transfers and multi-lingual domain registration in four different languages (Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean).

URL Forwarding

Do you have multiple domain names registered at Dotster that you want to direct to a single Web site? URL Forwarding is a new feature at Dotster that can help you do just that. Once you have a Dotster account, just log in and select the domain name(s) that you'd like to forward. We offer a free masked URL Forwarding service with a banner ad, and masked and unmasked URL Forwarding with no banner ad for only $5.00 per year."

For your other question, I think you can only forward from www.YourDomain.com (http://www.YourDomain.com) to www.YourOtherDomain.com/wherever.htm (http://www.YourOtherDomain.com/wherever.htm).[nbsp][nbsp]Dotster uses a bottom frame for their banner.

Tony.
- I guess that newsletter is another downside to Dotster.

Update: I got everything changed within 24 hours so it wasn't too bad, but it's taking 2-4 days for the DNS information to propogate!!! Now I don't know if I can blame this on Register or not, it could be another middle-man.

That's kinda strange cause every time I registered with Register.com, the propogation period was almost immediate (just like their email support which usually takes them between 24h-48h to reply).
