What with these pseudo domains .tv etc etc?!

I've seen people selling and buying .tv .ws and .cc .
Theyre not real!
What is going on with this?!
How did this all get started?!
These are not registerable domain names right?!
Yet someone is selling them! Type in your browser www.amazon.cc (http://www.amazon.cc) and see what happens!

Yes they are real, but in my opinion are not worth it if you can snag a decent .com .

The .tv, .ws, .fm domains are very real, but only a handful of registrars are handling them.[nbsp][nbsp]I know of a couple radio and TV stations that grabbed their .fm and .tv domains... excellent promotional tools!

Ok I thought maybe some company just setup some sort of redirection and claimed to have started new domains.

If these are real why arent people making a bigger fuss about them? Why do they charge so much more?
And why do we hear people saying they are waiting for the ICAHN to create new domains like .web and .biz etc etc to ease the supply etc.

Yea I like to ask "why"! " :)

Why do they charge so much more? Because they appear to be little more than a business marketing plan, as opposed to the .com/net/org trio that is more of a service.[nbsp][nbsp]That's my analysis, at least.
