Also keep in mind if you have somedomain.com and someone else registers somedomain.ws there is a good chance people that hear or see something about the .ws site will type in .com and thus arrive at your site :)

I got something in the mail a couple of months ago about the .ws domains.[nbsp][nbsp]I forget what exactly it said, but it sounded more like an advertising medium than a legit domain name alternative.[nbsp][nbsp]I wasn't overly interested in the .ws' to start with, but I was much less keen on it after viewing their flyer.
Your advertising dollars hard at work...
Disinterested
hi just wondering has anyone heard about the new .ws domain? I just ran across it today.
It's at www.website.ws (http://www.website.ws)
If anyone has anything to say on this please let me know good or bad.
Thanks
JE

Unless you had some catchy phrase for these new extensions I think they would be a waste as most people think of domains as .com and thus might use that instead of your extension unless they are familiar with your site. Like I said the exception in my thinking would be if you got something like whatson.tv or something.
Again these are just my views, but as a primary domain I would suggest a .com, then next .net

Being that I would like to be a domain junkie like a lot of other folks I know :) I did some looking into it and some asking around.[nbsp][nbsp]In the end, I decided that although I may lose what it is that I would have thought I wanted in a .ws domain IMO .com will always be in the forefront right ahead of .net etc.[nbsp][nbsp]So ... I've kept my fingers to myself and hung on in not going for it just yet.
I'm sure in it's own right a .ws domain is useful, I just want to be let it cook awhile before diving in.[nbsp][nbsp]To me the whole concept is still rather in the beta testing form. :)
Others may feel differently, but as soon as the .ws became a reality I spent 3 days picking out all the .com's I could find just to have and to hold. :P

I recieved the same card in the mail a few times for world site.
In a way they have to advertise a lot, because without the "world site" promotion, the .ws extension doesn't sound that good on its own.
It does appear that .ws may go better than the .cc introduced/advertised along somewhat the same line a couple years ago.
