I have a question for you all:

There is this certain URL that has been bought by a squatting company. This domain name alone, by looking at pcdataonline, gets traffic almost equal to mine. This is clearly unfair seeing that the site is nothing more than a page saying that the company may make a site there, but that's life.

Anyway, I noticed that the domain expires this July. My question for you is, will the company be notified? If they forget about it, would I be able to get it?

The holder of the domain name will be notified to renew the URL.[nbsp][nbsp]I'm waiting on a domain name that expired on April 23rd to get put back in the "pool".[nbsp][nbsp]I've read that it could take up to 6 months before the domain is available again. So, I just check every day as part of my daily routine.....

I'm also waiting for a name that expired on May 13, 2000 to be released to the wilds again.

I can't believe I'm posting this JEWEL of a useful website, but here goes.

http://www.internic.co.il/dh/
Domain Hunting at InterNIC.co.il (not the bonafide real internic guys!) is used to track the domain names status every day and notify you if a domain you're looking for is available. It's free!

Now if this is an elaborate scam to check on good domains and then register it themselves I do not know. Check it out and tell us? :) Pleease? Does anyone who actually used this service verify their results? I know this address was posted here before ONCE near the beginning of '99 so someone here could have used it?

We have been watching a domain that expired in 10/98 in an effort to get it registered for a client of ours.[nbsp][nbsp]There seems to be no pattern (or methodology) for freeing up expired domain names.[nbsp][nbsp]So, it can be a loooong time before it comes available.[nbsp][nbsp]If the domain is NOT renewed the domain owner must be warned by the registrar TWICE before the domain is returned to the pool.[nbsp][nbsp]You may find it helpful to complain to ICANN.ORG if an expired domain name is not returned to the pool after several months.

RE: http://www.internic.co.il/dh/ - I had used that successfully a year or two ago... now I notice that there doesn't appear to be any links to that page from the home page so I don't know if it is still functional.

This might shed some light as to why those domain names haven't showed back up in the pool ???
