View Full Version : Newbie w/ major Joker Problem
I registered two domain names with Joker.com, but the first one I clicked on the wrong button and had no options for adding Technical Contacts or DNS numbers...[nbsp][nbsp]I went in to try and change it and have no idea what their forms mean... they are worse than NS forms.[nbsp][nbsp]I see no way to change or add DNS numbers or names. I've emailed them but get no reply.[nbsp][nbsp]Think maybe I should just try for a new name and forget the $12 and change my domain name here at FQ?
Thanks
Tim

Was the second domain actually registered?
Well, it allowed me to proceed all the way through the second time successfully, but I received an email saying I couldnt register it because someone already had...[nbsp][nbsp]So, I guess I wont know if they charged me 2 or three times until I get my bill.[nbsp][nbsp]Can't get an answer out of them.
I finally went back in and figured out how to assign nic handles to FutureQuest.net DNS numbers so I guess I did that right.[nbsp][nbsp]Sure looks like they could come up with a little more specific instructions.[nbsp][nbsp]Guess I'll wait and see what happens tomorrow.
Thanks
Tim
Yes, the second domain shows up in the whois already... with the correct DNS, but the first one I registered twice they assigned their own DNS numbers.[nbsp][nbsp]I think I got that changed.

Now I just received this message, whatever it means.

Tim:
Assuming that the handles are correct - ie. that is your CORE HANDLE #, everything is in order, because 753, 754 and 755 correspond to ns1, ns2, and ns3.futurequest.net.
I have registered three domains through Joker, all are fine.
As for changing the DNS, there is a place where you can click on one of 5 buttons to modify info.[nbsp][nbsp]The fourth one, I believe, allows you to modify DNS information (I accidentally did the same thing once).

I've had to use Joker's "Service Zone" a few times with no problems.[nbsp][nbsp]Also, when I have e-mailed them with problems (like when one of my clients cancelled the e-mail address he had registered under) it took them about a day to get back to me probably because of the time difference.[nbsp][nbsp]But I had the problem all straightened out in two days... a LOT less time than the last time I tried to get anything fixed at NS.

I can relate to that![nbsp][nbsp]Took me a month to make a change with NS.[nbsp][nbsp]Finally had to call back a second time with my lawyer on the extension..<g>
I'm just not real good at waiting...[nbsp][nbsp]ADSL has helped my patience level some and it appears that finding FQ will help too.[nbsp][nbsp]Glad to be aboard.
I'll wait and see what happens with Joker.[nbsp][nbsp]Interestingly enough, the first domain I registered and had a problem with already shows up in a whois search, but the second one I registered with no problems says it's still available, even though I have a confirmation and receipt.
[nbsp]thanks
Tim
come to find out, Joker says it will refund the $12 overcharge if I send them a registered letter requesting it.[nbsp][nbsp]I think that would be about the cost of making the mistake in the firstplace so I guess I'll leave things as they are.[nbsp][nbsp]However, I do not have any idea what I did by requesting different name service or how it effects anything.
Joker has requested I do the following:
use the link "Domain"-->"changes/service":
1) at the 3 section (Domain) press modify
2) at the next page input the domain-name and press search
3) at the next page choose the domain
4) at the line of ns1 input COHO-
5) at the line of ns2 input COHO-
6) press "change nameservers"
7) wait for the confirmation-mail
I don't understand why?[nbsp][nbsp]When I do a whois on two of my domain names they both come up with the same information, listing FutureQuest as the DNS Name Servers.[nbsp][nbsp]Why would I want to change them?

It's pretty obvious that you have it right, and that the answer you got from Joker was a general rather than specific one.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
