Hi!
I've got a domain name parked at FQ, and I may have a buyer for it.[nbsp][nbsp]Question is, what's the procedure for transferring ownership over?[nbsp][nbsp]ie:[nbsp][nbsp]receive payment[nbsp][nbsp]first...put transfer through (and exactly how do I do this...esp. if buyer wants domain name to point to his current domain)...
I'd love to have a list of "what to do first"!
TIA!

If it were I, I would require them to pay for it in advance like the sale of anything else. Once you collect the payment you will need to go to whatever register you used for the domain and complete a Domain Name Owner Transfer Request Form. Once all the forms are completed and put in the new owners name they can transfer it to whatever host they so desire as it is now there domain.
Whatever register you registered the domain with will probably have a lot more information on this, so I suggest you head there first.
Let us know if you need any additional assistance.

Hi,
Try this link, if you are selling it for lots of $$ ;)

If you want to keep clear of transfer trauma, a domain broker like GreatDomains.com is a pretty good deal.[nbsp][nbsp]They will take care of everything, but of course you'll have to pay for this convenience.
I have yet to hear any negative feed back on GreatDomains.
If you want to sell on your own:
No personal checks.
Buyer pays for all domain transfer fee's.
Payment in advance.
And as Brian stated, check out the register you used for that domain name regarding transfer details.
Hope this helps.

What about having a contract first?[nbsp][nbsp]Is this necessary?[nbsp][nbsp]I would have to think twice before sending $$ to someone I didn't know who just "says" they'll transfer the domain.[nbsp][nbsp]Should I ask the owner to pay transfer fees with the total sale first?[nbsp][nbsp]Going over to check out NS...just would like opinions too :).
Thanx!!

OK, so this co actually wants to purchase a domain that I have for sale :).[nbsp][nbsp]He asked me to write up a contract, which I did, and now I'm just waiting for him to sign it and fax it back.[nbsp][nbsp]Hopefully the transfer will go smoothly (hehehe am I asking too much?)[nbsp][nbsp]I ended up getting half my asking price, but it's more than I had expected in the first place!

This is great news!!!
If your comfortable with your selling price, thats all that matters :)
Think positive, your transfer will be smooooth.

Maybe I'm the only curious one... maybe I'm the only nosey one.[nbsp][nbsp]:)[nbsp][nbsp]Can I hear any more about the transaction?[nbsp][nbsp]Was it a domain bought with the sole intention of being sold?[nbsp][nbsp]Did it take a long time to get a buyer?[nbsp][nbsp]How many figures?[nbsp][nbsp]Yeah... it was definitely the nosey thing.[nbsp][nbsp]Feel free not to answer any or all :)

Hey Drew...lol...why not just come right out and ask? ;)
Nothing to hide...
Was it a domain bought with the sole intention of being sold? Nope.[nbsp][nbsp]It was a website I designed for a newly opened business.[nbsp][nbsp]The business closed recently after just 9 mths.[nbsp][nbsp]Since the website was then just sitting there (still has over a year left on registration), I transferred it over to FQ, parked it, and searched for another business with the same name.[nbsp][nbsp]Since I'm a veeeery close relative of the former business owner (and got paid absolutely NOTHING for the design and maintenance of the website), I'm lucky enough to keep anything I get for it.
Did it take a long time to get a buyer?[nbsp][nbsp]How many figures? It took just long enough to locate another business with the same name ;) . We agreed on $500.[nbsp][nbsp]Sooo, I ended up making out ok, considering that I never even expected to get anything out of this deal in the first place ;) .
