View Full Version : Need help with transfer
On Monday, I completed a domain transfer at NetWork Solutions, and I immediately received the promised email to confirm, and returned it as instructed. However, it doesn't seem to be working. Here's why:
They say: "After you e-mail this form, you should receive an auto-reply with a tracking number. You must use that number in the Subject of any future messages you send regarding this registration action."
Yet, I have never received the promised auto-reply. I re-applied on Tuesday; still no auto-reply. I assumed this was an "auto"matic machine reply, confirming receipt of the request. I don't mind waiting for it to work through the system, but right now, I don't believe it is even IN the system.
I re-submitted again on Wednesday, one with the internic FutureQuest handle and one with the specific contact information -- still no auto-reply (with tracking number) from any submissions.
Here are some things I have already done to avoid the pitfalls: I have selected all copy and pasted, not forwarded the message. I have sent the form to them at hostmaster@networksolutions.com (not replied to the sending address) And, I have triple checked to make sure everything is exact. I am the person or record qualified to make the changes, and the order for the changes comes from my email address they have on record.
I'm at wit's end, please help.
Thanks,
Ken

not replied to the sending address Are you saying you did not reply to the address they sent the form from?[nbsp][nbsp]If so, this might be the problem.[nbsp][nbsp]I have always simply hit reply (not modifying the original text of send-to address) and had no problems.

Actually, I did try replying to the sending address too without success. However, their specific instructions were:
YOU MUST E-MAIL THIS FORM TO: hostmaster@networksolutions.com
(The e-mail address the form was sent from is: hostmaster@internic.com)
What is the domain name?
Was it in fact registerred at NetworkSolutions?
Any chance the the CRYPT_PW or PGP options were used upon registration?
You may need to call them :(

However, their specific instructions were: Don't tell anyone, but I try to make a point of not following directions...[nbsp][nbsp]:)
Seriously though, I went back and checked the email from when I modified my registration(s) last month, and the from and reply-to addresses were both hostmaster@internic.net
I wonder if they've recently changed something -- at the very least their instructions -- and that's related to the problem?[nbsp][nbsp]As I alluded to in another post regarding their current discount on .net/.org domains, I suspect something is in the process of being changed over at NSI...[nbsp][nbsp]Purely speculation, of course.[nbsp][nbsp];)

(sorry... for some unknown reason, the last message posted twice)

Dan may be correct on this one -- It wouldn't be the first time changes have caused situations like this with NSI :(
Ken -- I hate to say it, but yes, you may need to make the call :([nbsp][nbsp]Phone number is listed at the bottom of http://Register.FutureQuest.net/netsol/index.php
ACK! I wish you the best of luck if you ever have to (eek!) the "c word" them.
Be prepared to not drink fluids for an hour before the c word so you can freely sit by your phone for the loooong wait (its almost incredulous). Might wanna get a bag of chips, too --or just use a cordless phone! ;)
Best of luck once again (you need all of the "best of lucks" you can get),

Sorry so long getting back; I did accomplish the transfer and have been working on getting the site back together.
For the record, and in case someone else runs into this (it was a quirky one), the problem was in the way my email program was set up. It had my name and email "reply address" (which has been sufficient for all the emailing I've done for the last 2 years) and it was enough to get the 1st email from networksolutions which was the form to fill out. However, when I returned the form it was not recognizing my email address (which is required for authority to change hosts). Somehow, I came across a blank field in the email program settings called "internet mail address" and after I entered my email address (the same one) and re-submitted, it worked within minutes. (Of course that was after the week it took me to discover this). weird.
Hi..
As it seems I have also been having the same problem with getting my domain name switched here due to the tracking #.
When I submitted the request I also Never received a tracking #. I use their mail system NSIMAIL.COM which I have had as my main contact email incase my domain didnot work since 1998. Since submitting on The 12th, I still have not gotten a tracking #.
I kept sending the template because I thought they might not have recived it.
It seems to be something with submitting a template, because when I wrote to another address@networksolutions.com it sent me back a tracking# at blazing-hot@nsimail.com.
Also what I tried to do was send the template from another address:
balzing-hot@worldnet.att.net
and it worked, I got a tracking #. But, this is not the listed email address on my contact..the
blazing-hot@nsimail.com
is the listed one.
So, what I did was this morning, I called NSI and explained the problem to them..they seem to not know why..have no[nbsp][nbsp]idea thought it might be the NIC mail system, but that works just fine since I receive all other mail there perfectly, it's just the template that I cannot get a tracking # for. So the guy put me on hold, and came back and told me that I have to fax an authorization letter stating that I authorize them to change my service.
But..they want it on a company letterhead...theres a problem -I use Blazing Hot Entertainment Productions as my DBA name on my registration...I have no letterhead to use. I have a fax machine, but it's not set up anymore.
So what I did this evening, I downloaded a fax program from Tucows and sent the guy a fax stating my authorization....I received no response from him..I guess I'll see what happens tomorrow....
I think right now I'm screwed..what else can I do.
Thanks

NOW....
What I did about the fax thing was today I used[nbsp][nbsp]Wordpad to create myself a Letterhead and I sent that to the print driver where my fax driver is and I sent that "letterhead" with my authorization on it out to the guy as a fax..now was that clever thinking.. :)
I still have gotten no response about my email.[nbsp][nbsp][nbsp][nbsp]
