Found this in the FQ domain name registration page:Domain names can be up to 22 characters for the domain itself,Pardon me if these sound like silly questions to some; I just don't know much about this and need to be sure.

Is the dot considered one of the characters?

Is the "com" after the dot considered part of the 22 characters?

According to InterNIC:

We can currently register names that are 26 characters (including the TLD) in length.

That means it's 22 characters excluding the ".com".

Terrence,

What I am referring to is a redirected domain that will be handled by FQ.[nbsp][nbsp]Maybe FQ has different rules on these redirected domains; so, my question is actually specific to FutureQuest's rules.

What say?

We use the same rules as InterNIC - 22 characters without the .com part - the order forms follow the same rules as InterNIC standards.

<edit>
Rules for Domain Names:
Domain names can be up to 22 characters for the domain itself, and can have up to 3 tld's (top level domains). However, the total number of characters cannot exceed 31.
This is quoted from our order form - this takes into account non-US tld's (like .co.uk) - the hard rule is 22 characters not including the extention (InterNIC only handles .com/net/org, so 26 total works for them, but there are more than just com/net/org).

Hope this helps :)

Thanks, Justin.[nbsp][nbsp]This is exactly what I needed to know.[nbsp][nbsp]

The name I chose came out to 22 characters without the .com and this gives me the information I needed.
