Great idea, but it makes me a little nervous, typing my email address and password into an unknown website form.

Well, they ARE TRUSTe certified... That makes it safe, IMHO.

I don't have anything against Truste, but there was an article (I can't find it at the moment) about the possible Microsoft security "breaches" in its software, and how Truste only gave MS an scolding. Microsoft, after all, contributed 100,000 smackers to their campaign previously.

Is there a significant advantage to doing this, compared to establishing a guest profile on a borrowed computer and d/l your mail that way? This is what I have always done when vacationing and such . . .

Mandi,

You betchum! http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif For example, I use the computers at the school lab quite often (right now in fact). I'm here every weekday, but always on a different box. If I use a web-based email checker, I can still read/send emails, delete the ones I don't need to keep, but when I get home the 'important' ones are still on the server for me to download to my real mailbox.

Also, the browser on the lab computers does not have the capability of checking/sending email (Nutscape 4.05 basic no-frills school edition) at all (eg, when I click a mailto: link, nothing happens, no internal mail client). They do have Eudora set up, but it's only good for checking my school email addy, it cannot check external pop mail... (grumble)

Just my reasons anyway http://www.aota.net/ubb/smile.gif

When travelling (not often enough, IMO) I carry a floppy with Eudora 1.5.2 on it. The entire program fits on the diskette with plenty of room left for mailboxes. It's already configured with my profile so I don't have to mess with friend's settings. Back home I just tranfer the mail, rec'd and sent. Lots of email clients import Eudora files so it should work with Calypso, Outlook, etc.

Funnily enough, Eudora itself doesn't import Eudora files (why should it?) so transferring is a little trickier. Otherwise it works like a charm.

It's also a real nostalgic blast using Eudora 1.5.2 now and then. It's so fast!

Good idea...amazing that it runs from the floppy. Eudora has definitely become bloatware of late. My luck I'd leave the disk at home!
