Let me tell you, they say all good humor is based on truth.. and as a recent runaway from the frozen northwoods, (just a little closer to the North Pole, north of Green Bay, Wi) I can tell you there IS a lot of truth to it.. and it makes for a very long winter.

We liked to sum up the Wisconsin weather by saying that summer falls on a weekend, and you have to hope you're not working that weekend. :P

I used to like winter. Then I spent 14 years on snowcats and snowmobiles for hours at a time going to every mountain top with a transmitter in Northern Nevada and Eastern California working 16 hour days. :google:

Now that I've lived in the Sacramento Valley for eight years...

I like watching other people on TV trying to live in snow. :P

And these Midwesterners say the cost of living is too high in California.

They're just not counting all the costs of the weather, and there are many: heating, clothing, rusting cars, snow removal, lost time, ice related injuries...

But I don't want to convince too many that California is better, because they'll move there and drive up the cost of living.
