Does anyone have experience with using an optimization service? Did you see a rise in visitors and business?[nbsp][nbsp]Was your listing actually moved near the top of the results?[nbsp][nbsp]Also, if you think it's worth doing, any companies you would recommend for doing this?

thanks!

They all look like snake oil salesmen to me.[nbsp][nbsp]:P

I don't know if it was just perfect timing or what, but what appeared to really help my sites was Web Position Gold.[nbsp][nbsp]I ran my sites through it and within a month I was noticing a significant improvement in not only position but just getting listed on some search engines that I never found my sites on before.[nbsp][nbsp]I'd say it's definately worth a try.

I can say, to my disappointment, that Web Position Gold is what got me kicked off of Altavista the first time.

Lately, apparently Google has started targeting sites who use the reporter function of Web Position Gold. (That is, the function that allows you to check your ranking.)

Chris.

I've never used the Reporter function because I had heard it was causing problems.[nbsp][nbsp]I just use it for optimizing pages and keeping track of my submissions.[nbsp][nbsp]Like I say, about a month after I used it I started showing up on search engines I never had before, including Yahoo, and moved up quite a bit on others.[nbsp][nbsp]And that was after a year and a half of just submitting without running my sites through Web Position Gold.
