meta tags

okay this is quite simple .. but I am new to this. Is there a trick to get your website at the top of the web search engines using the meta tags ... or is there another way? What is the best free way to get your website noticed?

I have just created a new personal web site using flash, for one of my college courses. Created in 5 days from stratch .. including learning flash !!!
