(I hope you guys pick up the sarcasm as I type this)
Thank you sooooo very much for all of your advice on how to sell BAN, it helped me sooo much. I feel soooo wanted around these forums! ( :) )

There, now that I have that taken care of I would like to point out http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewItem&item=168011886

Tell me what you think... PLEASE!!! :)

I'm afraid you're treading in uncharted waters as far as this neophyte is concerned... :)

I will mention, however, that Industry Standard magazine has a great article about eBay - did you know that the high bid for a human kidney was $5.7 million? Which was low compared to "Young man's virginity" that topped out at $10 million.
Maybe you should think about raising your asking price? :)

Agree with Ron... sorry you are bound to find areas that many of us have not gone or cannot begin to yet.

Perhaps you need to figure out who you want to sell it to or who would be in the market for your site and then contact them.[nbsp][nbsp]<shrugs>[nbsp][nbsp]sorry that's about all I could suggest.

Tatu, I didn't answer because I felt unqualified and had no strong opinion.

But in this case, I agree with Ron also.[nbsp][nbsp]You probably won't attract much attention at 1750, besides which it can probably attract more.

Try setting the reserve at 10000 :)[nbsp][nbsp]You never know, you can always repackage and resell at lower prices later.

Yes, some replies! I knew some sarcasm would get you guys going... :) Thanks for you're advice/discussion, everyone!

The starting price starts at $1750 and the reserve is 2500. I was sure it would at least reach $2500 because I was going to set the bid increments to $250... little did I know eBay sets them for you (and the increments are $25 for me). But I think I am in the right price league because the BeanieWorld.com domain name sold awhile ago for around $5000 because it was receiving 100000 hits with NO CONTENT (btw, then the megasite BeanieWorld.NET switched domains so the .COM domain is pretty much useless now :) ).

Armand, your advice is pretty good about contacting the companies/individuals that would be interested. In fact, I am going to do that as soon as I figure out the best way to do that (e-mail/priority mail/fax). ;)

I my "plan" right now is/has-been:
1. Clean up BAN and remove some negativity
2. Write down the item description well (did I do good?)
3. Spread auction to beanie news sources (successful, my
[nbsp][nbsp] auciton has had about 380 page views so far in two days)
4. Advertise the heck out of the auction on BAN :D
5. Contact companies/individuals in the market
6. Advertise some more
7. Sit back, answer e-mails
8. Do follow up stories for the beanie news sources if it
[nbsp][nbsp] did or didn't sell (make it known I am accepting private
[nbsp][nbsp] offers or relisting)

Does my plan soudn effective? Am I missing something?

Tedloh, I thought about that but (according to my price evaluation comparing BAN to the BeanieWorld.com domain) then I figured if I price it too high, it doesn't sell, and I try to resell it no too many people will want it (with the "no one else wanted it" way of thinking). And eBay won't let me change the reserve, increment, or starting price even though it has received no bids. :)

Anybody else have info/advice/commentary/replies? (Please?) :)

No domains listed anywhere...but if I were to list one, I would be more apt to list it on greatdomains...just forgot about that one :).

But now I'm wondering why you didn't list yours there?

It would have been easier, but more expensive. Plus I felt that, although there are other low priced sites there, that I didn't need to waste $250-$500 (1/4 to 1/3) of my sites selling. But if those people have GOOD domains and bought them while in reality, they should put them on GD.

Hehe... finally I gave out some good advice. Was bound to happen once this millenia.

Just wishin' I had registers Drugs.Com! It sold for $823456
I wonder what corporation bought it and what are thinking any more?[nbsp][nbsp]Most strategies these days seem to be away from generic domain names to catchy names that are more memorable.[nbsp][nbsp]Of course for some it's good that corporations and large companies do stupid things right?

Sorry off topic rant.

Tatu-

When you relist it later you can do so as a different seller... or say a month later when everyone has forgotten...[nbsp][nbsp]all you're looking for is the one Beanie maniac in the US who would KILL for an existing operation.

A co-starter of LinkExchange (with his new company: Venture Frogs) bought it. (article at GD says so) and "Loans.com may top the record for the highest price ever paid for a domain name – more than $3.3 million.[nbsp][nbsp]If you value the name based on the likely profits it will generate to the new owner, our valuation models indicate that it is worth well over $10 million."[nbsp][nbsp]Wow, :)

In other news, I added this nice tidbit of great news to my auction description (hopefully it won't sound like I am making that up just to sell BAN):
"Added 9/23/99: Since the beanie world has taken even more notice of BAN, we have started to now show 19000 banners and bars daily and more than half a million banners monthly (roughly 570000 per month)! Just a contemporary example of how Beanie Ad Network is growing. We project BAN to display about 25000 banners per day and 750000 banners monthly within the next 3 weeks."
Seems the auction has done VERY good work at least in the sense of marketing, that is a 3000 banner per day rise! Maybe if this auction does not go well, I should hold on to it until it is even more popular since it has the awesome potential to grow!?!

PS: Today I implement phase 5 in my grand master plan! :)

Tatu

Quick Update: 3 Days and 5+ Hours left and no bids yet. After phase 5 in my plan was done I am getting a couple of "extremely interested" companies/individuals who are seriously thinking about it and they are going to contact me within a few days.

I am not worried. If the auction doesn't go well then I will still be accepting private offers, and if the private offers don't go well then so what. But hey, the way I look at it is that I have learned something new (in uncharted territory for myself and others here) and I will be able to have it until it grows even bigger and I sell it. Even if that means all of the other projects I have been wanting to fund will have to go on hold.

BTW, I just noticed how silly my last post looked. Just to clarify, the co-owner of LinkExchange did not buy Beanie Ad Network! He bought Drugs.com and that is what I was referring to! :)

Sorry, a shameless plug that I couldn't put in my last
